Has any one noticed this?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CITROEN-XM-2-0-PETRO...%3A1|240%3A1318

Very bad pictures:

My dad has taken a fancy to it (more like he doesnt want to see it being broken) so ive been asking for a bit more information on it, mileage etc. The buyer is going to get back to me about it.

It seems to be in very good condition, the inside is supposed to be like new and the exterior very clean.

Definitely something ill be keeping my eye on, providing the info i get from the seller is ok.

What does anyone think to it?

Oh, about this driving to your local MOT place. Is this actually legal providing you have a MOT booked at the local testing station, if so does the car need to be taxed?

Chris.

Hi Chris,

I noticed the seller listed aircon but the picture shows basic heater controls.

£200 is more than I would pay for a 15yo car with no MOT, particularly with scrap value being so low at the moment.....several members (including myself) have aquired cars with several months MOT for less than that.

However, it could be that the seller doesn't want to MOT it simply because of the ABS light.......which could be a fairly easy fix if you know how.

I'd try to get the price down a bit though, I still think petrol turbo automatics are less desirable than other models........(although I'm very happy with mine smile.gif ). And you do have the aditional cost of getting it home.

Good luck if you do decide to go for it, I hope it turns out ok for you.

Paul.

Thanks Paul,

Its in the 'thinking' stages at the moment, which we often dont get past laugh.gif

Your probably right, although it still seems cheap to me. A few ABS sensors have gone on mine putting on the light, so it may be that or even a dirty contact somewhere?

Ive never seen a 2.0 turbo auto estate sell well yet, perhaps it is undesirable, but more so than the 2.0 16v auto? (which im very hapy with)

Ive got my eye on Steves 2.5, so im still watching that at the moment too. Its a while since ive seen so many Xms available.

I had wondered about the air con, its ages since i was in a s1 so ive forgotten what the dash looks like when it is equiped with it. Is it either manual controls - not ac or digi with ac?

From what i gathered about the sellers reply, its not his car, as he didnt have it there to check the mileages and didnt know about history. I did ask about the air con but that wasnt mentioned.

I bought a Xm estate on ebay a while back (a 2.0 16v auto again actually), but after the 350 mile drive there, it was near scrap and would never have made the return trip. So 700 miles in a day for nothing, so im always wanting to view before i buy now, unless i find one with a good description from a reputable XM-Club member (Steve!) dry.gif

This is the second time it has been listed on ebay I think.

It may have manual aircon which was one of the options and uses the 3 knob control panel not the electronic one. In that version as factory built the aircon on/off switch is the outermost one of the 4 switches on the dash to the right of the steering wheel. The steering wheel in the photo obscures the innermost of the switches positions but the 3 visible switches do not look to be in the correct order and just too small to see what function the switches are for sure.

John

It looks nice. I've seen several Mk1s with excellent bodies lately, in fact some seem to be holding up better than the Mk2s. You really have to go and view them. I went to Edinburgh to see one once - that was rubbish to!

If it was Mk2, diesel and manual - I might be interested. biggrin.gif
