Hi all

Right, i have had a good look at it today and the mot fail sheet's

It failed on;

n/s headlamp aim too low

One bald, got 2 new ones on rims

Wiper blade, easy

excessive rust near o/s front seat belt anchor point

Emissions, CO excessive at 2nd fast idle, although it was lower than the first test and only just failed, don't think it would be a problem though.

excessive leak to n/s rear ram, we will get to this later.

Excessive leak to front centre hydraulic unit.


Advisories

Front n/s tyre near limit of 1.6mm

unable to ascertain break bad wear?!?!? maybe taking the wheels off was confusing for them

Front discs slightly warn, aren't they all?

Front indicators faded?

Rear inner tail light inoperative, maybe that's because....................

The inner rear light lens missing/broken

Rear bumper cracked

Slight movement to n/s track rod end

Slight movement to n/s anti roll bar drop link

Inner sill starting to rust

Slight oil misting on o/s rear ram

I recon i Could mot it and do the advisories for under £200 which is a shame but that's the way the cookie crumbles i guess, no point dwelling on it.

One of the rear rams is goosed, the other has an oily stain on it which doesn't look new David but i will have a good look, i do have a good pair of mk1 hatch struts if you are interested in those, i don't know what the differences are though.
What i will do is drive the car about down the yard for a week or so to make sure there are no management faults before i rebuild it. All those who want parts pm and i will get back to you, will also be posting some mk1 bits i no longer need in the wanted section to make room for new bits soon too.
Tim, the drivers mirror doesn't go up and down (moves in and out though) it feels like the glass has come loose from that part of the mechanism but the cases are perfect and the passenger one works fine.

Yes Ciaran the turbo engine will be going into my prestige maybe at the end of the summer, depends how quick i can get it re built.

It's for a N reg 2.1 Diesel Estate that I am in need of a rear strut, are saloon struts and estate ones different? if it's any good i'll try n sort you out with something.

Estates have larger diameter rear struts than cars. Citroen just made all the XM rear strut thrust rings the same outside diameter so all sizes of strut will fit in the XM rear sub-frame. Internal piston diameter is larger on the estate strut so it will not be a very good idea fit the wrong ones and particularly not a mix across the back of the car.
