Abs Sesor Removal

Hi all.

Some time back there was a topic on how to easily remove ABS sensors without damaging them and I would like to read it again but I can't find it. I had to change one on the front N/S on my XM and I had a terrible job on my hands! I finally had to break it into three parts and then hammer a bolt through the sensor hole towards the toothed wheel, to force the stem out and I was pounding at it with a big hammer to move it. I then had to file on the stem of the one I was fitting to make it fit and NO the hole wasn't damaged in any way.

Thanks Dean for pointing me in the right direction and thanks Xmecs for the info. Now I need a front and rear Sensor for the S2 XM, My supplier just called to say it was a Teves he had in.
Do any other cars use the same Bendix sensors?

There are quite a few posts but put 'sensor removal' in the search box and you get 25 pages of stuff to troll through.
Xmexc knows his abs though, i have no idea but since car manufacturers buy an abs system from say Bendix there must be loads of other cars with the same system about, i would start with pugs though.

the plugs are different iirc, and the windings are different, but if cobbled in, the computer says yes.....

my taxi had one of each in the rear.

Could you give me a breakdown on how you went about this and what problems to look for. I have a front ABS gone out but could be the wiring, I by-passed the plug and socket but maybe not efficiently enough and will get to soldering it up. The rear I can't get to because of the lousy weather, but previously gave a high reading, about 5.00 Ohms. I'm going to check out the scrappie's too.

Hi all.
First I apologise for double post, the internet connection failed as I sent the first post and when I got it going again and resent it not knowing it had already gone!
Worked all morning on the ABS and got it working, sort of. the front one will be fine but the rear one is a real bummer! I'll need to remove the silencer to try and get at the connection but the box looks as if it's ready to go so left it for now, got the pins cleaned and ABS working but can't get the holding spring back in! tied with wire for now.
