Isn't this almost the colour of DrTim's s2?
Mind the s1 may be slightly darker. Andrew |

Almost but not quite, although it could be the lighting. Been meaning to get the paint code for the VSX so I can look for a mirror shell, then we can compare codes I guess. I don't 'do' manuals but I'm willing to overlook the folly of waggling a stick to make the car move for that wonderful interior (and what appeared to be a great condition, well oiled piece of Citroen history anyway). However I do believe that for me half the enjoyment of a new car is the purchase - the thrill of the chase, if you will - and once it was on my drive and I'd gotten used to it, it would simply be another four wheeled drain in terms of tax, testing, insurance and fuel. I would still love to compare an early S1 with my S2 but once I'd got that little quest out of my system it'd be pretty much the same car all over again: a two litre petrol four banger XM. And I'd never know which one to take to work! My next big Cit will be a diesel This post has been edited by ThwartedEfforts on January 17, 2009 06:09 pm -------------------- 97 'R' XM 2.0i SX Saloon Auto

Well done Mouseflakes,
Beautiful car, you'll not be dissapointed. By all means use it, but I would encourage you to keep it in tip top condition, it is a rareity. That car will be very sought after I imagine in a few years time. Also please don't mess about with it! Don't put leather in it. The Si interior is very nice, and I imagine that there are few Si s in their original state (I stand to be corrected). -------------------- 1980 CX Athena (W)

No, I use about 2cms of throttle travel at the very most. Hence I don't mind the fact my teensy petrol thing isn't the quickest thing out of the blocks. I'm interested as to why you think the S1 would beat an S2 in terms of driver appeal - assuming it drives how it should! -------------------- 97 'R' XM 2.0i SX Saloon Auto

What colour do you want!? The S1 cloth is very nice and in fact actually, I prefer it over the SEi leather but the velour base i spec is better still, although I AM a bit of a Citroen weirdo so it's likely to just be me; I can't see the attraction of leather. My latest Xantia V6 with electric leather is freezing in the mornings and the heater in them can't warm up quick enough and they still require help from the main ventilation heating too. Cloth is cosseting and cosy before you're even into 2nd gear!! Andrew |

That statement is not only 100% correct but it has given me a great idea, buy an xm for say £200 keep quiet about it so know one on the forum knows you own it it, although we will all know such a car exists, then when your bored sell it on here anonymously and after it has been bought tell the new owner about the scheme and when he's bored on goes the cycle, you would end up with a car passed around purely to satisfy the track and kill instinct but guaranteed to get you £200 back on re-sale. So what do you think? ........................didn't think so Anyway, being serious for a minute, if it is going to be your only car why not just use it? millage is kind of irrelevant at this age, if it gets mothballed it will still be deteriorating, we all know that an unused car is a car waiting to beat you over the head then dangle you by the feet till its emptied you pockets and steal your socks for good measure. So use it hard, maintain it hard and enjoy it, its too beautiful to be sat in some garage somewhere This post has been edited by dean on January 17, 2009 09:46 pm -------------------- 92 xm 20i prestige auto (modified)R.P 5678

I can't see the attraction of leather. Andrew[/QUOTE] Obviously not a smoker and not someone who likes to eat lunch i the car then Andrew. Btw another S1 plus, you can put your cup/bottle/glass/sandwich on the flat bit above the instrument panel. However, it does help to have functioning A/C if you've got leather. However having reminded myself with th interior pic of the Platinum one near you (hint hint LOL) here http://images.compucars.co.uk/carpics/Lg779220-03.jpg I might be swayed somewhat, looks better then the VSX really. What colour is the headlining in these? I wonder, are those real or fake pockets on the drivers doors of that one? -------------------- XM 2.0i Prestiege (Red) 1992 K reg RP 5692 (deceased)

Are you saying odours don't cling on the interior if it's leather?
It is temptingly close but it's an auto. If it had been the blue one Tim has bought, I'd have gone down just to have a look, purely out of interest and all that...
Grey IIRC, and the door pocket does open on the S1.

Andrew, its not the odours, its just leather doesn't burn. The VSX has 3 fags burns in the seat, had them when I bought it. Have managed to avoid adding anymore so far but have spilled sandwich onto it a few times. Honestly the seat in my old Visa GT was riddled with holes when I finally scrapped it. Fabric also doesn't absorb spillages of stinky when decaying drinks (ie milk, not that I drink any of that). Honestly, the F reg Passat I was lent for a while before I got the VSX had been a family runaround for a decade and smelt FOUL in the back. Re headlining in the Si, is it a darker gray than the VSX? I seem to remember so. I find the VSX a bit too light, if I'm in a picky mood. Obviously you feel the same as me about autos then. regards -------------------- XM 2.0i Prestiege (Red) 1992 K reg RP 5692 (deceased)
