Thats very nice, i do like that cool.gif

One of the best early colours in my opinion, very tidy looking and low miles. Its surely worth the asking price! Very good value.

Not at all. I'd given the guy a call this morning and considered doing the same thing - it's the equivalent of an Xbox 360 and a couple of games. Do please let me know what I've missed out on! laugh.gif

I've watched it for a couple of days and I was concerned that someone with no interest in the car might snap it up and stick it on ebay with £1000 reserve. It wouldn't sell, then the MOT would expire, then......who knows?

So, with £100 worth of tax, it seemed quite a low risk to buy it now and see what it's like when I get there.

The seller was very keen for me to speak to the previous owner who kept it very well it seems. I haven't got in touch yet - but I think that's a fair indication of his confidence in the car.

The previous owner px'd it with the current seller, for a Rover 75 (fourth time I've heard of that swap being done recently!) and on his first visit to see the Rover it was too dark to see well. He came back the next morning and he'd washed the XM as it got a bit muddy on the seller's track the night before!

If it's as nice as it sounds then it probably shouldn't be in my care - so I dare say I'll pass it on to someone here if they want it. I won't be looking to make any profit either. smile.gif

We'll see how it goes.

EDIT: Yes Dean - the colour looks amazing doesn't it? Part of what swayed me TBH!

Great stuff a nice Xm in the hands of a forum enthusiast!

Glad you've taken away temptation from me as I've been thinking about that for a while - pretty
much the only colour Xm I've not got or owned at one point but have seen two in the metal and
it looks absolutely fabulous; this one's all the better for being an S1 WITHOUT the leather!!

Pictures and story in a mini blog PLEASE - we can all have a suggogate purchase and share in
your delight! wink.gif

Tim - I'm pretty sure it'll win you over when you see it in that colour but drop me a line when/if
you fancy swapping it for something - if this doesn't fit the bill for you, what are you after!? blink.gif

biggrin.gif I just think it might be too nice for me.

We'll see how it goes - I just feel better that it's not going to be appearing on ebay parked up in a yard and with an inflated price and threats to scrap it if it doesn't sell. That seems to be a common tactic these days with any model that's known to have a devoted following of loons!! smile.gif

This is indeed the trap I've fallen into where I've bought a few Turbo engined Xantia and Xm to
stop the damned engine swap merchants killing a good car and in fact where I was a few years
back buying up Cx's and Gs's as people were in too much of a hurry to scrap good cars for the
want of some tyres or heaven forbid a section of exhaust. The only thing about it being 70k miles
would be whether the clutch has loads of life left in it as dependent on the previous owners
driving style it may be due in another 10k miles or another 50 or in PeterN's case another 120k!!

I wonder about getting a low mileage car and piling on the miles but what are the alternatives
- mothball it and rarely use it, use it knowing there's loads of life still yet to give from the car
like Robert with his 30k miler or a bit of a compromise 'fudge' of both extremes in an ad-hoc
basis, on a whim balance - my preferred option!!

I've just recently bought in a W plated 75k miler 2.1 TD auto and a 56k miler Xantia 24v v6
Exclusive uncannily for the same price as your new purchase so low mileage cars are out there
for little money which damns the equivalent higher miler cars to a lower value still!!

If you want a car to use daily and not worry if it takes a lot of the abuse, without it being
precious I can see where you have a bit of a dilemma. I certainly use particular cars for
different tasks and split the mileage up between them all thus keeping the annual mileage
down which helps insurance premiums but then there's so many of them the accumulative
running costs ambush my wallet! rolleyes.gif blink.gif

There were two reasons I didn't buy it: A. it would have gotten me into SERIOUS trouble with the missus, and B. I already have a superb condition S2 2.0i only with half the mileage. The two cars would have been too similar and I'd have not given them both the attention they deserved, either in terms of servicing or driving!

Didn't think you 'do' manuals Phil!? It would have complimented your s2 if it had been an auto
V6! You'd have the sensible C5 when you, er, want to be sensible? laugh.gif
