How many Cx's show up at the CX meet then Graeme - maybe it's the way to go here despite
my misgivings about the entrance fees - is this for the use of the pub car park or more revenue
generation by the CCC?

It seems we're now not talking or possibly even thinking about a meet up to celebrate the Xm's
birthday although it's clear many like the idea but need to be pinned down to a plan!!

I think we need a plan!

We need something to draw people in, rather than a meet in a carpark somewhere may not interest that many people. Which is why i thought a CCC meeting would have been a good idea, as it would surely attract people to see the ther cars too.

Usually the CCC has events on race courses, i attend the weatherby one every year. Its only something like £4 per car which goes towards paying for the venue for the weekend. There is usually a cafe on site, many interesting Citroens, many interesting people, parts for sale (yes Xm parts too!). They usually combine the date with a car boot sale, which is usually in the next field. If your camping there is a live band and entertainment. As far as i gather its like this at Stratfords event too. Not to mention if we contact CCC and see if they would put something in the magazine about the Xm event joining a CCC event there will be Xms coming out of the woodwork.

Im not saying we need to do a joint venture with the CCC, its just an idea.

Although i do think a scenic drive and a meet up at a nice pub would be a great idea too.

Anyone any more thoughts?

Well, 2.1 TD's would be well represented before anyone else turns up with the other 16 Xm's
in an effort to show the diversity of the Xm range!!

Thinking about it, there must easily be 20 different Xm representatives over the production
lifespan? Not doing much else so will have a go without getting bogged down with manual/auto
/saloon/estate and estates are a blindspot although my general s2 understanding is growing:

S1

2.0 carb (does one still exist?)
2.0 i
2.0 Si
2.0 SEi
2.0 i Prestige
(wasn't there another 2.0i special edition - damned if I can remember what Athena?)

2.1TD Si
2.1TD SEi

3.0 Si
3.0 SEi
3.0 24v

2.0 CT Turbo Si
2.0 CT Turbo SEi

S2

2.1 SX
2.1 VSX
2.1 Exclusive
2.5 VSX
2.5 Exclusive

3.0 24V Exclusive

That's 18 at the moment, although there's the other special edition s1.5 2.0i.
I'm sure there are more model variants - too tired now to think! biggrin.gif

laugh.gif Never heard of one of them! wink.gif

So in SX and VSX guise Chris?

With Athena, Onyx and Premier there'll be plenty of options to find a representative.
May need to start counting gearbox options or estate variants the older the car gets
to create a greater 'catchment' for the ones that have survived!!

Whilst I'd like to think we'll see a successful 20th birthday meet up I wonder if we'll even have
petrol for a 50th laugh.gif

Don't know the official number ! but 'some'

There were some GSAs, an AMI8 and 2CV as well as a couple of BXs and 3 XMs so no pressure to actually turn up in a CX

The CXM rally this summer should be an even larger event - should be good!

I think for handyness sake, we just go to the CCC event, it is already being organised, so all we have to do is make our way there and attend. No other hassle of trying to organise an event, then the following dissapointment if it is not well attended.

--------------------
1980 CX Athena (W)
1990 2.0 Si XM (G)
1990 2.1 Turbo SD (H)
1995 1.9 Xantia TD VSX (M)
1996 XM 2.1 TD VSX (P)
1997 Xantia Activa (R )

Andrew

Yes Andrew, the 2.0 16v 135bhp engine came in the SX and VSX, although its not a common sight in the VSX, most seem to be turbos, which are all 8vs. We have had both SX and VSX 2.0 16vs. The 2.0 16v came in manual or automatic.

This is quite a list your making!

robert_e_smart, i think you might be right, plus there will be a lot more Xm owners in the CCC that are not on here.
