Quite frankly, I'd not be too happy paying CCC to enter a club-Xm meet-up; it's not the fiver, it's
the principle of another party financially benefiting from us lot meeting in a field or pub carpark! Dean, I could manage the 20 Xm's on my own but their location is a closely guarded secret and I could tell you...etc etc Anyhow, someone may say something derogatory about my Cx's and Gs's and I could not hold myself responsible for my actions... Has there ever been an Xm only event before? Ill certainly be along for what ever gets decided. It would ne great to have 20 Xms for the 2th birthday, can we manage it from club-xm members alone though?
20 Xms!, thank goodness someone is stock piling them away from breakers yards! How many S2 Xms do you have? Oh and Andrew, that is some very neat parking This post has been edited by Citroenmad on January 16, 2009 02:03 am -------------------- 1995 'N' XM 2.1TD VSX Manual Estate, magenta red - 62K miles

Why not aim for a meet as centrally in the Uk as it's possible to be - I realise this is almost
an impossible task allowing for forum contributors located at the extremities of Kent, Wales & the West Country, Scotland and IOW and NI etc - there'll always be some on the doorstep and others 300 miles away. As a purely arbitrary suggestion, the reason the NEC is where it's located isn't because Birmingham didn't want it but Coventry did, but due to it's central location! Could an event like the Classic Car Show be the additional draw for everyone to meet there in their ample carparking set up or how about the National Motorcycle Museum over the road? If someone with local knowledge was available to be guide, a convoy could decend on the unsuspecting populace and migrate to a country pub etc!! No drink driving though, but a pub lunch!! The old Fosse Way Roman Road between Coventry and Stratford would be the run after the nosebagging!! Andrew |

Are you proposing we meet at the NEC in November for the classic car show?
Its a good idea, and may well draw in more people than a general pub meet, although the likelihood of getting two of the many Xms together in one carport is slim, let alone all of them! It would be nice to get in contact with the CCC and see if we can have one of the nice early Xms on the Citroen stand this year, especially with it being the 20th year of the Xm. Im sure the cars owner would need to be a CCC member though. I can't think that there has ever been an Xm on the club stand, so that would be a nice change. Its an event Ive attended for the last 4 years and will be going agian this year, it usually takes a full day just to see everything, then there is the MPH show next door, which is worth a visit. I spent 3 days there last year and I still don’t think I saw everything A convoy would be a nice idea, we could always have a scenic drive ending at a nice pub, as you say. Im sure we can manage that, the last 2cv run had around 90 cars on its 60 mile trip! They did have an XM on their stand in the past.
It was on the front cover of the Citroenian in Dec 2006. ![]() As for a great location for a XM 20th Anniversary meet that will be equally far away from everyone, would be Citromobile in Utrecht, Holland the first weekend in May. A great show. -------------------- 1980 CX Athena (W)

Old bones prefer the late spring, summer, early autumn months. November's a bit too cold and foggy for me, certainly for standing around in a carpark.

I felt sure there was an earlier Classic show in the year at the NEC! As far as required space for a
meet up, in truth, are we all going to amount to an optimistic 20 in number or easily more - isn't that around the turnout for the Cx's? Andrew |

The ferry is a bit expensive though
I have a field but the Dorset/Devon border isn't exactly central! I don't mind travelling but on past results I don't think the number attending would be very large, a pub car park oor even motorway services would be a convenient place although most have a time limit - unless you are staying at the Travelodge. Anywhere fairly central would suit me, someone must know of a suitable venue? Peter.N. -------------------- Used to have:

Maybe it's had a fancy personalised number fitted and that ID is on ice!?
I don't think many folk are falling over themselves to own an early s1 and in fact the popular belief although I feel unfounded now, is these are best avoided at all costs being unreliable and nothing but trouble. I'd go so far as to suggest they weather their age extremely well and significantly better than their peers of similar vintage. Don't forget Paul, if you fancy making an honest car of my black H plate SEi auto with your spare autobox, it's still around on death row awaiting a reprieve! Andrew |
