It's neilp's car - and very nice it is too by the look of it. I was chasing him for information about it (which he supplied - as in the listing) but never got my act together to travel over to Kent to see it. My loss - it looks like a very good car.

I reckon he'll get more than he was asking me for it (especially if you wash it and post some more pictures Neil biggrin.gif ). I should have gone to see it - but then I wouldn't have my nice (but far less practical) blue car. This estate is bound to sell for him, with all those important jobs done - so perhaps it's best all round. Best of luck with the sale Neil.

Very nice. I don't know the people involved, but although fairly high milage it looks well maintained. So, am I going to jump in? Not until the DVLA make up their f****** minds. Sorry about the swearing (I might have written fulsome) but I applied for return of license around December 1st last year. Methinks another `phone call might be called for.

Oh well,

Jim.

PS.Then again, I think this is a new listing 140297271989 (Ebay). Also very nice though strangly in view of the spec; no aircon.

Thanks Tim - I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. It is a nice car, and I wouldn't be selling it but for the fact that the 2.5 is even nicer! That and the fact that my 48' garage is full of projects and my wife wants an Alfa 166! I might wash the car, but I didn't see the point of more photos of good paint and interior! What other pictures do you think I should put up?

Neil

Hello again Neil (unless Tim is not a mis-print for Jim, in which case hello Tim; sorry to butt in biggrin.gif ).

It might still work out ok. Dr. says I should get my license back and if the DVLA
don't agree, he says I could appeal. Problem is I've no idea how long things will take so I just have to wait and see. Can you confirm something please? It looks like a manual shift, but the photos don't make this 100% clear. Having read as much as I can about them, consensus opinion seems to be that the 2.5 is very nice, but painfull to work on the engine.

It is a manual, yes. I personally don't see that there's a great deal of difference working on the 2.5 compared to the 2.1. The engine bay is a bit more congested, but nothing is REALLY difficult, and it's all just nuts and bolts in the end anyway!

The 2.5 is definitely a nicer car, much more grunt and more toys! The only thing mine doesn't have that I'd like is a CD changer. The 2.1 is a really good car though, and I'd still be driving it if the 2.5 hadn't come along for daft money.

Are you serious Neil! ohmy.gif ..Or perhaps you are very slim and fit and pliant and have long thin fingers. A 'bit more congested' ? unsure.gif I suppose it helps if you dont have arthritis. biggrin.gif

Slim - once upon a time!! Fit - ditto!! My perspective on the 2.5 is probably skewed by the fact that I'm used to working on Italian exotica. If you want congested you should have a look under the lid of a Countach! FWD V6 Alfas are A LOT worse than XM's of any description.

I know it's far less important than the structural and mechanical fitness - but I know from my (very limited) experience as a buyer that there's an (illogical) tendency to get more excited about buying a car that looks nice and shiny in a photograph.

Or is it just me?

Sometimes a photo of a nice shiny car helps prospective buyers 'clear' a prospective purchase with any 'significant others' in their life!! biggrin.gif

Just thought you might be 'underselling' the car.

Not that I know anything about selling cars - I usually give mine away! laugh.gif
