I have really enjoyed running this car over the last 12 months but now have to face the fact that a MOT failure is imminent. I usually buy old cars that I haven't driven before and accept that they are scrapped after a year or so.
I have read that parts are difficult on some XM models so if anyone needs anything then let me know. I'm offering bits or the whole car for whatever charitable donation you want ( I favour the RNLI). All I want is not to be out of pocket.
Living near Brighton in Sussex may mean that I'm too far away but if I can help (and I'm no mechanic) please let me know.
It seems such a waste just to have it crushed.

Hi Dean,
Leaking shock, emissions so poss a duff cat, two tyres, bit of welding. Can't risk good money after bad on what could be a bit of a Pandoras Box. The other damage that is not a mot failure is minor rear shunt damage that took some of the offside light cluster on the tailgate. The colour of the car is listed as bronze but looks dark grey to me.
Cheers,
Peeler

Its a shame to scrap it, i wonder if you would get any interest on ebay for the whole car. Although it would probably only be bought for its engine adn scrapped so you may not be able to win either way, unless you find someone who wants to save it.

Maybe put up a couple of pictures if you can and a little more detail, mileages etc. Someone on here may want it, or know someone who does.

I am after a TEXTON box if you do decide to break it, it operates the alarm, central locking etc. Do you know if the alarm is working?

Hi Dean,
It is taxed for 6 months which I intend to get a refund as I only bought it last week.
I may have been confusing about my reference to charity. That was a wish, that's all. My main thing is that it seems a great waste to scrap such a good car. Yes it still drives really well I am using it daily. The MOT is out tomorrow so Friday is my last drive. If you want it the car is free. I don't have the space knowledge or time to break it up so it is all or nothing.
Cheers

As much as i would like this i wont be able to get it, my dad and i are using the trailer this weekend to go and collect his stag on the mainland and short of going double decker on the trailer i cant get 2 cars back and next weekend im on a course for work, always at the wrong time, if only it had an m.o.t for this weekend sad.gif sorry peeler, unless you can wait 2 weeks i wont be able to have it.
Was only going to break it for the engine and box though, it would be nice if someone would take it on to put back on the road.
Come on who wants a free PTA???

I bet your happy you found us then biggrin.gif

So you bought it and then found out its faults?

Im sure someone will want it off you, hopefully to repair as it sounds like its tidy apart from the quite minor problems.

What year and mileage?

I had a great year of XM motoring so no regrets. Dean if you want me to keep it for a couple of weeks then that isn't a problem. It's taxed so I'll stick it outside my house. I am sick of seeing decent cars with MOT faults crushed, especially if there are enthusiasts who enjoy the marque and need the parts.

Ah, sorry Peeler, i should pay more attention - you bought the tax last week, not the car rolleyes.gif

There must be one Xm scrapped every week, that we hear of on here, so saving the better ones is a must if we are to have any left. But there is obviously a slow supply of parts needed from ones which have gone too far. Yours sounds like it could easily go again. smile.gif

I want the engine and box for a conversion at some point to my car, so yes if you can wait i will have it, but, if anyone else wants the car to put back on the road in the next 2 weeks before i can pick it up feel free, i would rather it was used than broken.

Peeler, can you pm me your number so i can get hold of you nearer the time if it doesnt go as a user.

Regards

Any chance of a smattering of pics (e.g. so we can see what wheels are on it)? What year? Much obliged
