Abs From Scratch

Well on an XM 2.0i '91 I found that all wires that go on the wheel have been cut off, and there is no sensor above that gear like thing (my bad english), so I think that ABS is cut off. I'd like to get it on-line but I can't find any info about how it works etc. Does anyone knows where I could find schematics, or any other info on ABS on XM's?
Are there any useful informations on microfiches on this topic?

is yours a 2.0i, or a higher spec?

Reason I ask is that the UK spec for a 2.0i did not include ABS except for the special models (prestige etc). Had to be Si or SEi for ABS.

Odd that it has the geared teeth tho, but it's possible that someone swapped the hubs from another car that did have ABS fitted to it and just removed the sensors.

Do you have the ABS ecu (in the black bin under the bonnet, bendix)?

Does it have an ABS valve block (follow the brake pipes) or an ABS light on the instrument panel?
