94,256 miles, 2 prior keepers, £500. Owner seemingly unaware that eBayers put items on their watch lists to help them value similar items of theirs, not necessarily to buy others rolleyes.gif

This looks like a thoroughly nice car. Unfortunately with less than a day to go and no bidders it seems to deny the possibility that XM prices are rising.

I'd bid for it but with one XM running perfectly, another in reserve and a wife who threatens me with a fate worse than death if I buy any more, I can't.

Derek

I would love it, exclusive spec, 2l turbo....lovely and only a few hundred quid, my problem is space, i can only have 1 car and im not gona get rid of mine now considering the condition its in and the fact that im supposed to be madly saving.
Problem is even when i have bought a house there is no way im gona be able to afford one with a 3 car drive sad.gif

Just as well Citroen sold both types then; though some models can be one box wonders!
I find the speed restricted change ups very tiresome and isn't an auto billed as being a
means to lessen the hassles of driving!

It's really not the best automatic 'box in the world, I grant you, but as long as you're not one to tear up the lanes and as long as you take time while you're driving work round its foibles and concentrate on making smooth progress then it actually behaves just fine.

It would be nice to have smoother changes - the ones in my C5, incidentally a six speed unit, are totally imperceptible - and there's a lurch going into high gear when cold, but there's no chance I'd swap it for a manual. It's just a shame all the selections are in a line, because with a failing gear display it's sometimes easy to stick it in the wrong gear or leave it in '3' for an entire journey.

Congratulations, it looks like a good one biggrin.gif

On the subject of Citroens auto box .. .By the sounds of it the C5 2.0HDi has a different box to the 2.0HDi in the C4 Picasso? Which is quite terrible! The only thing i can compare its changes to is the smart car! Very slow changes and there seems a pause in the middle. So if your accelerating and it changes gear there is a definate pause in acceleration during the change, it does not just slip in but more cuts out! However changing gear manually reduced this sensation, but thats not what a auto is about.

Its also seems slow whitted when pulling away, the car rolls away at first before the gear kicks in, annoying for parking.

I know two people who have had them, both disliked the gearbox and did not keep them for very long. One of the people has now got the new C5 actually.

I prefer A manual to An auto, but it depends on the car and how good either of the gearboxes are.

Speaking of autoboxes, I haven't spoken to the seller yet but I think the badge on the wing in one of the photos may read Turbo CT. If it is the CT then I am very happy.

Chances are the speedo and ABS are related. Id the speed sensor is down then the ABS will throw a fault as if I remeber correctly the ABS system needs a speed signal to go with the wheel sensor signals, certanly all the non aviation ABS systems I have looked at have had a signal form the main speedo!..

Apparently the speedo works for the first ten miles of any jouney then stops. Don't know what that tells us.

Hi regdorpten

ABS will be the BENDIX type. Do the resistance checks on the ABS ECU in the engine compartment. If this gives you a target sensor then go after the wiring first. Cleaning up the green electrical plugs in the front wheel arches and over the rear struts. If no fix then try the plugs on the ABS block down under/just in front of the battery. The speedo is electronic and there is plenty on here about wiring and drive box faults.

Looks a fine spec car in good condition. I doubt that the mileage is much under real value. Best of luck with it.

John
