Dropping Rear, Occasionally Clattery Suspension

Yes sorry, i knew about the weight sensing brakes, i ment that they both take on a similar work load, most cars leave the majority of braking to the fronts, or so it seems. Although the suspension set up possibly accounts for that too.

No, the noise comes from the front, if i move the height lever it stops the noise. When it groans the car isnt moving, it doesnt make any noises going from high to low. I thought it was something to do with the antisink valve, but im not sure why it should do it sometimes and not others.

Actually, thinking about it, its normally when i park the car on full lock, where the front of the car jacks up due to the tyres scrubbing and it then settles when its parked. Its more of an electrical type groan, as the car is still when it happens.

Its not the only one ive heard make the groaning noises, so i assumed it was normal?

The rear brakes actually do very little work when the car is unloaded sometimes taking a few miles to get the rusty water marks off the discs, when loaded though they start pulling their weight so to speak.
The groan isnt the car rolling back as it settles and the noise is the pads juddering on the discs is it? like it does when you do citrobatics with the hanbrake on.

Thats another thing i never find with the xm, if i leave my Seat for a day the brake are grinding the rust off until they clear, but the Xms dont seem to rust up. You know, my Xm tinted spectacles really work No really, i always think the brakes are superb.

If i wash the xm they get rust coloured almost instantly, but being under the cover all week they dont, its having big open alloys that lets the rain blow straight onto them that does it.

Ive got a pair of them too , i like the xm's brakes they feel solid and progressive and unlike some cars the f/r distribution feels perfect, plus you can pump 175bar to the callipers with your little toe on the pedal, being a proper cit, with proper brakes

Ah, the rusty brakes may become more noticable with my new arrival then!



I can't even see the brakes through the steel wheels and trims. One thing which ive always thought odd about Citroens wheel designs, but mainly the wheel trims, is the fact they used to often fit solid wheel trims and alloys with nearly a full face. The C15 has totally solid steel wheels, as do some older citroen cars. I thought this would have been bad for brake cooling, but it seems not.

Mind, it also has its advantages, you dont get a build up of brake dust on the wheels Not to mention im sure its better for drag and aerodynamics.

Did you notice all F1 cars seemed to be wearing those mk1 flat wheel trims last season? The rest of the worlds catching up
