I agree about silver, its probably my favorite colour for A car actually, so easy to keep it looking nice and its a great colour too. Black on the other had is awful, id never buy a black car - which is of course why mine is black
I hope the new estate turns out to be a good one, it would be a shame to see another one scrapped, hopefully it will sail through its next MOT fine. If that was closer to me id have been tempted to put in a bid, it kind of brings it home how over priced WHMs white Xm estate is! -------------------- 1995 'N' XM 2.1TD VSX Manual Estate, magenta red - 62K miles

You can't go wrong at that money either way. I agree with others the XM looks very well in white with black trim and also seems bigger in white.
I had a white estate that kept looking well without too much work if hosed down when wet on a little and often basis. It was also rust free. I think surface rust disfigures a white car more than any other but the galvanised panels on an XM are a great help in keeping it at bay. The paint on mine was solid colour without lacquer, I don't know if they are all the same. It responded very well to a T-cut and polish. Robert. |

Hi Robert, Derek
As you say Robert, it does look smart and bigger I think, I had a white CX Safari which looked like a whale! Unfortunatly there is a little rust around the edges, nothing serious just loss of paint, but it sticks out like a sore thumb. The upside being that if it is a straght white, it shouldn't be difficult to repair. Its in the evaluation stage at the moment, I think I will put it in for MOT and see how it fares. It looks pretty good underneath and all the jacking points are intact and straight, the only thing that bothers me is a tendency for it to pull to the right, I thought it was because the o/s front tyre was soft and since I inflated it, it's not so bad, the red one also has a tendency to do this. I am hoping that my local friendly MOT tester might pick something up. I hate the thought of scrapping it but the sum of the parts is worth more than the whole - someone once said. Peter. -------------------- Used to have:
