2.1 Estate '93 silver. Wales

Item number: 180311314773

I might well go and look at this one tommorow, its a Mk 1 and after all I have said about them I might be tempted to buy it if its half decent, as there don't seem to be any more silver Mk 2's.

Well, I've been to see that one as well, look you isn't it. Very good body and paintwork, all jacking points solid, rear bumper cracked, looks like someone missed the tow hitch. Engine sounds very sweet, again, no sign of water loss, I did drive it and took the cap off again - no pressure at all, poorly fitting cap maybe, sunroof works. Interior looks a bit scruffy but nothing that can't be attended to, not as nice inside as the blue one but paintwork much better.

I may put a bid in on this one, unless anyone else is interested. I cant at the moment envisage replacing any of mine with it, but I might sell it on if I can buy for the right price.

I reckon the s1's are better protected underneath and therefore longer lasting!!
I didn't realise you were a car dealer Peter!? wink.gif

Why would you want to go for it just to sell it on or is this a justification in your mind
for buying a s1 and then deciding to keep it 'for a while'! biggrin.gif

Hi Andrew

I just want to see if I can get over the stigma of owning a Mk 1. biggrin.gif

I must admit that both of the S1s I have looked at this week have been in better structural condition than my S2 estates.

And, no, its justification for buying it knowing that I can sell it on again if necessary. unsure.gif

Peter.

Last thing I read from Peter elsewhere on the forum today was his complaint
about being outbid on it but not sure if it finished then or was ongoing!!

As far as I'm concerned, there's no stigma to owning a S1!! cool.gif tongue.gif

EVEN AN ESTATE!!!!!!!

Andrew

I was outbid! sad.gif but I think that the buyers need was greater than mine. It was a nice car but the price moved out of my comfort zone. unsure.gif

Oh dear sad.gif

Why is it they're always so far away from me. mad.gif

I've had my S1 estate 4 years this month. Apart from a new LHM pump within the first few months of running it, it hasn't cost me a bean biggrin.gif mind you the wiper blades are completely knacked now. laugh.gif

That's the way of things Ken, I once went to Edinburgh to view one - it was a load of rubbish! mad.gif Nearly all of mine I have had to travel two or three hundred miles or more for, its a test of your devotion. biggrin.gif I would be prepared to travel anywhere for the car I wanted.

The green one I have now was a pain when I first bought it, needing a water pump and head gasket plus numerous electrical problems in the first 10k, since than I have added another 70k with no real problems at all.

Two years ago i went to see an Xm Estate, a 700odd mile trip for me, in one day! It was a heap, and something was not very right with it. Having only covered about 8 miles a year! Thats not even enough miles to get it to the MOT station and back! So who knows how many miles it should really have had.

Again it was advertised as a minter, but it was one of the worst ones ive seen, certainly would not have made the return drive home!

The only Problems i can think of that mine has had in the last 6 years (21K miles!) is both the front window motors going, one needed a brand new motor (costly!) and the other a new cable.

Other than that, its had all wear and tear things, full set of discs and pads, 6 tyres, exhaust, new spheres and regassed every 2 years with LHM flushes, cambelt kit & water pump, a new battery and the obvious service items (spark plugs, filters etc). Hopefully ill not be needing to do any of that for a while as it should be ok.

As for aero wipers, do they actually work well on the XM? It has quite a curved screen and ive found on other cars that if the screen is not flat they miss bits. Ive just removed them from my Seat to fit the original type again, which work much better.

I always buy my Xms blades from Citroen.
