my mate has a saxo exclusive?? its a t,reg and his key sometimes wont enable the car to start it turns in the lock then nothing, the red flasing light on the dash wont go out, its some sort of anti theft device, i think the key has a chip in it?? ,any one know anything about them? ps, dont know why they call it an exclusive ,no aircon or cruise, or lectric windows/seats/mirrors, just a basic car,

An exclusive, it must be a face lifted saxo? They have similar design wheels to the Xm exclusive but smaller! Id have thought it should have electric windows, remote locking and fogs though - our old Desire did.
The key does have a chip in it yes, its the little cover thing on the blade side of the key. When the chip breaks, the car usually turns over but wont start (like the Xm does if you have not put the code it) or some cars start and then realise there is no chip and cut out. Is it doing this or just nothing? Does your mate have a spare key for it, if so tell them to use it and see if it works. If there is no spare key it might be worth getting another key for it (should have one anyway) and see if that works. -------------------- 1995 'N' XM 2.1TD VSX Manual Estate, magenta red - 62K miles
