As I slide into the leather seat of my V6 on a cold mid- November evening I switch the seat heat to the number 2 position, enough to warm the cockles but not hot enough to toast them. Switch on the ignition and watch as the little green tell-tales light up the interior. Check the readout on the immaculate left and right hand digital displays, release the cover on the keypad and key in the last four of my old army number. Turn the key and the engine springs into life although you would only know it by looking at the tachometer. Sit there enjoying the ambience of an XM where everything works. Glance down and find that the right hand of the radio display is invisible. ohmy.gif sad.gif mad.gif

Collapse of stout party.

Derek

That was the idea, Peter. It was meant to be funny but reading it back it went down like a lead balloon.

There should be a way of deleting embarrasing posts!

I didn't mind it either - it sounded like there was a 'but' coming with a sting in the tail
- don't browbeat yourself so much!

Guess you could go into edit and put something else in instead! tongue.gif

Good idea Andrew, how about me deleting it all and just leaving "My radio display has blown one of its lights".

But any latecomers reading the posting would wonder what you fellers are on about and I couldn't do that to you.

I'll have to live with my embarrassment. I really did mean to write it like a cod intro to a "penny dreadful" with a come down at the end, but the result was more pretentious prat than Hank Janson.

Derek

Thanks for the attractive offer Dean, but I'd look daft sitting on a radio. smile.gif

Mind you Derek with the the heat that some of the radios seem to produce sitting on one would soon 'warm up your cockles'!
If it's of any consolation the right half of my radio's (display) is a bit on the dark side-just as well the LHS display is functioning ( for now!).

Alan.

You should patent that, call it the Quattro Sport Seat, combined with the extra firm Granite Suspension package, what a fantastic car that would be...... oh no wait laugh.gif

Sorry to get this thread back on a serious note but has anyone ever successfully repaired the blown back light bulbs in the radio display?
My display is also only half lit up and when I looked inside the box it seemed to require a fair bit of extra dismantling just to get at the tiny soldered in bulbs so I admitted defeat and put it back together again.
Could LED's possibly be used instead of bulbs?

Ken
