Hi guys - I am the proud owner of 1992 XM Estate V6 - Black Leather - Manual 5 speed - Electric everything - I need code for radio and some help working out how to use security code thingy. Most things work but tail gate has mind of its own - sometimes locked and some times open - also remote door opener is intermittent. Oh and would like to get a new water pump at some stage.

Hi, lord1nz

Welcome to club-xm.

Someone who understsnds Mk1 XM's will be along to help on the water pump. V6 XM estates are a bit thin on the ground but a manual one is fairly unusual, enjoy it, you will have to tell us a bit more about the car.

Have you found the owners manual as this often has the radio code written in it. Its official home is in the fuse box lid found on the underside of the dashboard, passenger side. If not Mk1 XM radios can be decoded from the serial number using a free programme. Cannot remember if there is a copy on the web site but if not then I am sure someone will dig a copy out for you.

John

Hello lord1nz!
I also have a similiar car, XM Estate V6 with manual gear box. Built 16 july 1992, registrered as a model -93.
And also for me the tailgate sometimes locks and sometimes don't. And my remote opener is also intermittent, but I think that depends on that the lock in the drivers door is a bit squeeky.
I like the car a lot, it's nice to find someone who has an equal! I got mine only two months ago.
Sorry can´t help you with the water pump or the radio code. On mine, the radio code is written on the bottom of the ashtray (underside), but I´m quite sure that has been done by a previous owner and not is a standard option...
And the security code-system on my car is also disconnected by a previous owner who got tired of it. I don´t think these cars are attractive to thiefs anymore, but you never know, could be good to have it in order.

John,

Id be interested in finding the software for decodeing S1 radios... do you mean the EARLY ones or the S1.5 RDS ones?

Ive never managed it on ANY XM radio, or let alone ANY Clarion units... Only ever managed it on Xantia Blaupunkt units...

In idle passing, the latest Xm I've just got had it's radio code thoughtfully stamped on the nearside
pillar door jamb by Citroen...

Yep, the RP number; which actually isn't as crazy an idea as it sounds if you keep getting the codes
for everything mixed up and/or have a hopeless head for numbers. You're going to be a pretty sad
car radio thief to notice the number, or for wanting an Xm standard radio anyway! biggrin.gif

BTW, what's wrong with the v6 water pump? Betting money would be on the two feed pipes that
run in the vee across the engine!!!! Mild steel but hardly mildly shocking for rust...

Andrew,

I guess his Seal in the pump itself has gone... I had a white V6 that had that problem, I changed the FRONT HALF only and was a complete sucess...

The whole pump as I mentioned else where is £300 odd from stealer, and no one does a "Copy" pump... QH dont for example..

So when my white V6 needed one I eventually got a split pump and hey presto it worked...

Hi Guys - Lots of info there - My date of manufacture is 6th July 1992. No luck with radio code at this stage. Looks like I just leave security code thing alone. Priced a new water pump here in New Zealand $818nz plus thermostat and seals Around $1000nz before starting the job. About 400 British pounds. Thanks for all your help and ideas.

Hi,

Whereabouts are you? I have a V6 that won't grace the roads again and will probably sell bits off it.

Kiwi

Paberg - Interesting to see there is only 10 days between our estates (breaks). Now yours is at top of world and mine is at bottom. Mine was sold in Wales on 18-8-92 by West Shore Garage Llandudno. Came to New Zealand in 1998 with 87000 miles on clock. Any idea what sort of money these are worth in England these days?? Also any info on what new price would have been?

BLIMEY MOSES!!!!

Llandudno is just 30 mins away from me!

West shore closed down about ten years ago!! Competition from Elim in Portmadog and slaters in abergele I think forced it...

What a journey shes had, I guess its lost the UK plates now... but from here to the other side of the world, thats gotta be the furthest travelling XM I know of.

RE: Radios: Theres people saying that the Clarions can be decoded from the serial number, Ive tried many of the common programs and come to the conclusion its a Myth! None have worked for me, as I have about 3 clarions that need a decode and cant get it done anywhere WITHOUT sending them to a Radio decoder centre....

Prices: Parkers info: Your XM, comes in SEi trim, in 1993 K/L reg in UK plates, she was a whopping list price of £26,850!

Now, uk price she might get around £500... but thats a guess, estate prices, prehaps any XM prices can vary a lot depending ow keen the buyer is and how many people want the particular model... £500 might even be TOP price in immaculate cond..

Lord1NZ,

The code for the Clarion in my Mk1 V6 is 1351 - written on the underneath of the unit. Try it - you never know your luck! Will PM you next week.

Paul, or anyone.

Has anyone any idea what the cost is to get Clarion RDS radio unlocked/recoded a Radio decoder centre?

Or even better, has anyone successfully unlocked one yet with a "common" program?

I have 3 (I think) that I picked up on Ebay last spring but the only one with a known code
has other issues (will need to refresh my memory when I get the Prestige back).

Thanks in advance
