Yay. Another one still lives according to the DVLA! Well at least for a few months yet!

The vehicle details for N293 YVN are: Date of Liability (tax renewal) - 01 01 2009

Your father must've done something right with the suspension if it lived on 2 years later.
Was it one of the 2 anti roll stabilising rams leaking?

Going off on tangents is always very interesting on this forum though.
I don't see the harm - we are talking about rare Citroens here which is related to the
Xm's availability/continued numbers of RHD examples.

It would be very informative to know just how many Xm's are still listed active or on SORN
on DVLA's all knowing all seeing database.

I believe car clubs can make a genuine formal inquiry for a sum of money!
Mind, what did you expect, they'll only do anything if you ply their palm with more than
a chunk of silver.

So, who can ask as spokesperson for Club-XM!?
PeterN, xmexclusive, Noz, Chis Light....!!!!?

What it would show is how much of a shrinking gene pool exists for those who do have a
burning urge to buy another - it may just sharpen the ebay searching!! wacko.gif rolleyes.gif blink.gif laugh.gif

I'd love to know exactly how many Xantia Activas still exist as they're being mercilessly hounded
down by the Activa despatchers and culled to donate their engine to small boring hatchbacks
- can't be many of a small band of RHD registered cars left now... sad.gif

Buy one now if you fancy the idea of owning an example of arguably Citroen's ultimate
development of the hydractive setup! Cheap as chips too but when they've gone they've gone...

Andrew

Andrew - your the closest! Prehaps you should go and ask them directly! wink.gif tongue.gif biggrin.gif

John, I can see your point about CCC as they are if you like the main 'official' UK owners club. Thing
is, how many members here are also memebers of CCC? If we assume a rough figure of say a third
getting on half of the 1000 members here is active with another percentage being in the UK with a
RHD car, is this figure greater in volume than current CCC Xm membership registered cars?

I'm not in the CCC and haven't been for about 5 years for various reasons and forums like this offer
me a better means of directly communicating with like minded enthusiasts!

One frustration is actually having some kind of yardstick for registered cars into the UK as RHD.
After all, LHD is OK but RHD is going to be better in the UK. The take up of cars into the UK wasn't
exactly enthusiastic after the first year or two with figures of sales dropping markedly into the s2
era.

Oh, thats good to know! Thanks.

How do you check that out?

The suspension was working perfectly, it handled superb, very odd sensation!

I think it was yes, im sure the part needed was going to be around £600 or so, it had just started to leak, so im not sure if something could have been done to repair it.

It would be very interesting to know how many Xms are still out there in the UK.

We're currently looking to buy another, an estate, ive found a couple im interested in, one in particular. Id like to find my ideal Xm, but i dont think its going to happen, my wish list is too long laugh.gif

Hi Andrew

I am in CCC and will ask the questions of them as David who looks after the XM's pages was asking for contributions.

Hi..

It still amazes me how many people are NOT aware that you can check basic details on ANY uk registered cars..

Go here:

http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortal...?SKIN=directgov

and select "Vehicle Enquiry"

and enter the appropiate details, useually, REG of car and the make and there you are.....

TBH, I took it for granted that most folks around here knew this! Useful to know a bit more
about prospective purchases etc. Guess I'm just sadder...

AutoTrader offers a basic FOC database look up too; used to be better but they must've
decided it was info worth making you pay £5 elsewhere for!

I'm pleased your ex smart looking Activa is still around too. Yes really! I said I'm sad! wink.gif

If it came anywhere near South Wales it may have been sucked into the Andmcit Citroen
Black Hole... rolleyes.gif tongue.gif laugh.gif

Problem is, Xantiae ARE disposable (probably more than Xm's and that's saying something)
which isn't good news for the V6 and Activa varieties. Did you know even the front wings
on these is different to the lower spec models in the range...

I knew about the RAC check, but not that you could find tax details, ive always just used it for model and engine details.

Im pleased about the activa, looks like someone must have put some money into the suspension to get the leak fixed. It was really worth repairing, we just never used it so decided to pass it on.

The Xantia Turbo D my parents bought new in 1994, it was local until a few years ago. It would be 13 now though, you dont see many xantias now, never mind earlier ones!

The Cxs reg is G303 APY, its a light blue/silver 22TRS, it was a one owner car before we bought it. Very tidy car and it must be one of the last CXs made.

I did see it on ebay a year or so ago, pleased its still going.
