Bit pricey really for the miles and I'm not sure how well a 2.1 TD auto will go.

there is a 1995 2.5 td exclusive on that site for 595 too, its in Bristol and I WANT IT, but for about 1/2 that price! Allegedly only 20k (at first I though it said 200k).. To be honest if I'd spotted it was in Bristol I'd not have posted the first link. :-)

I noticed that exclusive too, it does seem very low mileage .... can't be right .... for that money surely?

I called and spoke to a lady, but she was too busy to talk asked me to call back tomorrow.

I suppose at that low mileage even with the age the clutch and other stuff that might be seriously expensive to fix should be OK.

I'll see if they've got any service history, old MOT's and are willing to take 350 for it tomorrow.
I suppose if the dot matrix is working I might go a bit higher LOL.

My mates at work are gonna be so mad if I get another one. Been trying to get me to get a Mazda for months now.

Still wanna keep the Prestige going though, but the indies seem to have given up.

So the 20000 miles is correct?

You should snap that up if so?

I think i over value Xms, id say it was worth much more wacko.gif

Clutch should be ok, i asume it must have spent years standing still if that is the true mileage. Saying that, ive known people get through clutches in 9-10K miles, so you never can tell.

A Mazda! No, its good to be different, keep with the xms smile.gif

I 'phoned the guy last weekend - the mileage is 200,000. He says struts are good and he's a long term XM owner - I went to see a 2 litre turbo estate he had some time ago and his 'keeper' is a nice SED.

Thanks for clarifying the mileage mouseflakes. Anymore info, recent clutch, cams, head gasket?

Presumably its an M or an N.

Did you make an offer ?

Hi DrTim,

I didn't ask much more about the car TBH - sorry about that. After I'd confirmed who the seller was I knew that he was a long-term XM enthusiast and thought if I wanted to take it further I'd go and see the car. From the photos it looks like he's down near Temple Meads (he used to live in Knowle). When I met him before he seemed like a decent sort - and I've seen him out and about in the SED - he's a full-time enthusiast I'd say.

I didn't make an offer as really, if I do get another XM, it needs to be an estate.

Good luck with it!

OK I am near Temple Meads too, but mr mazda in the office says if I offer him three pounds fifty it will be too much LOL.

thanks

I saw a silver XM as I walked away from mine along Jamaica Street this morning, and when I came back to mine it was parked next to it. I believe it is the same silver 2.5 manual exclusive with 200k on it. I had a good chat with the driver, who has 2.5 estate that he's owned from new and was driving the exclusive saloon as a loaner while some chap called Arnaud who fixes Xm's was fixing his. Anyway, I hope to get Anaud's number soon., mayb he has a bottom hose for my Prestige.

Hi Dr Tim

I met Arnaud a few years ago at the Citroen Centre at Oxford. We just happened to visit Paul Johnson at the same time. There cannot be too many Bristol XM mechanics with that name. We chatted for a while looking over his 2.5 exclusive. He gave me a contact mobile number 07796304893 which may still be valid. Bristol was just too far away from me to follow up.

John
