Hi

After realising I have too many cars by far, I am selling a few. One of these is this car which I bought a year ago for £400 and have hardly used. It's been dry stored since.

Good points: Drives smoothly and no bangs rattles or unwelcome noises. As smooth as any XM I have ever had. Auto smooth and no issues with overheating etc. Overall, a 9 out of 10 driver.

Alloys included.

No major bodywork issues or dents.

Complete front to back new exhaust fitted this year at £350.

Bad points: Turbo cracked, rear offside door jammed shut, MoT just expired, small hole in front edge of nearside sill which needs a patch about 3 inches by 4 inches.

Anyone interested before I EBay it?

Thanks

Brad

Hi, How many miles has it done?

How much are you looking for?

Does everything work, electrics, air con etc?

Where are you located?

The cracked turbo puts me off a little, sounds expensive, but it looks like a good looking car, im after an estate so very interested.

Thanks.

Hi

The mileage is 97800. It's covered 1000 miles since the last MoT in 2007.

How much? I'd say offers over £400.

Everything works including windows, roof, seats. The rear wiper is sometimes temperamental.

The car interior is pretty unmarked. No stains, rips or smells.

The car has no air con.

Windcreen unmarked, no chips or scratches.

Headlining perfect.

The battery holds charge for over a month and the car starts first time, every time. It is dry stored.

Yes, the turbo repair might be a bit pricey, I don't know how much, but there is little else to do as everything else is working and the car is original, complete and unmessed with - exactly why I bought it.

Being critical, one tyre might need changing due to cracking of the sidewall. I have one which goes with the car in addition to the spare wheel/tyre.

If you are keen, come and have a look.

I live near Evesham, Worcs. 01386 861484, ask for Brad.

I relisted it this afternoon on EBay. After having questions such as "Will you take £50" and "Can I pay and collect at the end of November?" and so on...I decided to get shot and it's now gone to the Scrappie. I didn't want to do this and I regret it in a way but it's been hanging around too long.

Sorry folks. sad.gif

Well, that's a shame. Looked like a straight car. Times like these I wish I had a farmyard with a barn sad.gif

I too have found eBay to be immensely frustrating, and as time goes on the problem only gets worse. Everyone equates "auction" with "bargain" in this country, and if you're a private seller trying to out something of any value it can be extremely frustrating.

In my experience, the overwhelming majority of calls and emails are from clowns, and the ratio of clown to genuine bidder decreases as the price goes up. In the past I've had items describing £10,000 cars where people offered me less than £4,000.

The one thing eBay is good for is small vendors (such as the Hong Kong based suppliers of HID lighting kits) who are able to get their wares in front of a huge audience, often in a faraway place, and for small time thieves wanting to turn swag into cash laugh.gif

For everyone else it's basically a giant scrum of impolite bargain hunters.

ohmy.gif Your joking?!

I can't believe ive forgotten about this! It wasnt exactly what i was wanting as i dont want a Turbo, but id have taken that off you had i known it was going for scrap, it looked in very good condition.

sad.gif

Id certainly have had those wheels too!

Ebay: Is ok for small things, but i doubt id ever buy a car from there again. I bought a Xm estate about 3 years ago on there. Drove the 350 miles to see and collect it, but it was a total dog of a car and not as described at all. So i left it and did the return journey thinking what a waste of time that was!

It is a shame but too late now. I got £60 for it in the end. And it was as good as it looked with only the faults described. I can concentrate on other things now. Sorry if I upset anyone

Arghhh, I would have had it (at the £400) had I not had a rover coupe taking up the space sad.gif not that I want rid of the coupe.

I'm a bit confused Brad,

wacko.gif You asked members on here for offers over £400, then 'gave' it to the scrap man for 60 quid ohmy.gif ................did someone on here upset you? unsure.gif

I was wondering the same, im sure someone on here would have give you that, or a little more and then you know its gone to someone who would get use and enjoyment out of it.

A good condition estate is hard to find, yours looked very clean. Even with the cracked turbo it wasnt unrepairable, ripe for an engine conversion or something!

Never mind, please poeple, dont scrap so many XMs! dry.gif

I too would of had it and it is a real shame it went for scrap but i suppose if you had no one express any intrest in it and you have as many cars as he does when its gota go its gota go.

Citroenmad, if you want a set of those alloys i have some in the garage that are never going to be used again, the tyres are all just about legal but two are a good make and slightly perished and two are cheap with worn shoulders, dont know where you are but if you happen to find yourself on the I.O.W you can have them.

Regards
D
