thought most relays had a diode across the coil to handle the back-emf when the field collapses. Like the flywheel diodes in the electro-valves. Looks like a fairly standard relay to me.

I replaced the 3 fan control relays, which had badly corroded connections, with new ones bought from Farnell at a reasonable price (a fraction of Citroen price). You can order online from Farnell's website. As Dave said it is a fairly standard relay.

the reason i ask is ive been to a few of the local electrical suppliers here in cardiff

and because of the diode bit shown on the relay they've all said havn't got one like that!!!!

and when i went to citroen, they couldnt order me it cause he needed to know what it actually controls cause otherwise he couldnt be sure of which relay he was ordering

rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

but will try farnells and see what they say

Hi Charlie

Do you have a Maplins shop anywhere nearby? They do a relay which should fit the bill , although it's not clear whether it has the diode across the coil. See http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=6436&DOY=16m9

The relays I bought were made by OMRON type G8J-1C7T-R-DC12 and these have the diode fitted. However I can't see this type any longer on the Farnell website plus the fact they want a £15+ surcharge to deliver OMRON relays from US stock!!

RadioSpares (RS) is an alternative supplier and they have a Panasonic relay which fits the bill. See http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/searchB...oduct&R=1782012

Hope this helps

Ken

Does it sit in the row behind the headlight just like the fan relays on the other side. If so it is the cruise control relay or headlight main/dip relay.

Ah! Perhaps you'd better change all the relays!

(Sod it! How do I get a smiley?)
