Hi,

Would anybody care to put a name to each of the items I've numbered here please, I'll start the ball rolling...........no.7 Fusebox (the only one I know).

I know there's an ECU for the engine and one for the ABS, and I think there's one for the suspension, and what about the one with the two pins that have to be bridged to get the cruise control working..................

Any help appreciated.......

Thanks.

BTW, the car is a 2.0 turbo.

One more thing, I broke this connector, what's the point of it? Why not just have a single piece of pipe instead of having a seemingly pointless piece of plastic to complicate things.........

Hi Minijet

Heres my first stab at the bits.

1 not sure where the arrow is pointing
2 Main (Engine) ECU
3 Suspension ECU
4 Double Relay
5 Teves ABS safety relay
6 Cruise Control ECU
7 Engine compartment fuse box
8 Bodgers fuse for extra electrical equipment (Towing socket?)
9 and 10 40Amp Radiator fan fuses

? One way air valve

your ORG number does not match up with a Teves ABS so I wait to be corrected.

Regards

I think 1 must be the ABS ECU.

2 is definitely engine ECU (locking plug) and 3 is Suspension (2 plugs).

Thanks John.

The strange thing is, my 2.1 TD has the same spec but only has one ECU in the plastic box........

Hi Minijet

Yes now I can see it in the new photo 1. is the BENDIX ABS ECU. That means that 5 is not the Teves relay so it may well be the cruise relay. As for 4. I only know that it is two relays in a single case because if you look carefully you will find a wiring diagram for it on the outside of its case. Only the later LUCAS fly-by-wire 2.1's need an engine ECU. so I would expect you to have two ECU's in the box unless that car has not ABS fitted.

Thanks John.

The strange thing is, my 2.1 TD has the same spec but only has one ECU in the plastic box........

A 2.1 being mechanial DERV may well NOT have an ECU, theres nothing electronic to control on mechanical injection, so my guess is that that would be missing..

Is it a rareity that it has NOT got abs either?? That would be missing an ECU then aswell, leaving just your suspension ECU in the box...

The DOUBLE RELAY is actually the FUEL PUMP control relay/Timer

Its IS A Bendix ABS setup, as that is the ABS ECU at the back..

The purple replay (5) is the Air Con relay.. An exclusive, so will be standard

The ? valve is a one way valve, for idle control or EGR system,

Thanks Paul,

I'll have another look at the 2.1 when the rain stops. The ABS light has always been on since I got the car, maybe a previous owner threw the ECU out (with several other items missing from the car).......

laugh.gif laugh.gif That would not be good. Prehaps the TD has Tievs, in which case then the ECU wont be in the box, and down on the ABS Block which would then explain the empty box and ABS fitted....

Having just said that your RP on the DERV sugests its an older car then your Petrol,d so should have Bendix too, so a picture of your DERV ECU boxes would be good!

I do have pleanty of BENDIX abs ECUs here is it does happen to be missing!!!

Rgds

Sorry, my mistake wacko.gif , there is another ecu in there, and it's the same as the one in the petrol car (two connectors), there's also a smaller ecu/relay (looks like the cruise maybe).

What it doesn't have is the extra cover on the front of the main box where the double relay, air con relay and cruise relay sit, so the whole thing looks much smaller, maybe that's what confused me...........I forget which car I'm looking at sometimes wacko.gif

I'll get a picture later...........

Thanks,

Paul.

So here it is, the single solitary ecu........on it's own....................oops, sorry unsure.gif

user posted image

I must have been thinking of the poverty spec 2.0i that I used to have, with no ABS or cruise control or hydractive etc...........

Obviously I don't look under the bonnet as often as I should........

In truth I may never have looked in the ecu box of the 2.1 before today......

So, it's pretty much the same as the 2.0 turbo, with slightly fewer bits

I can't find the purple air con relay anywhere.........

You wont have a Double relay on the TD, as they DO NOT have a high pressure pump, so theres no need for a High pressure pump relay/timer.. tongue.gif

The front cover simply clips on the front of the exsisting box, useually left off or broken by previous owners.... may well have a spare front cover here somewhere...

It's ok, there's nothing to cover anyway.

I must say, I'm really looking forward to finding that ABS fault sad.gif ,

and the air con sad.gif ,

and the cruise control sad.gif

All part of the pleasure of owning a Citroen..........or two..........(how does Andmcit cope with a hundred and fifty of the buggers? wacko.gif )

Thanks again,

paul.

I think it's a hundred actually!! rolleyes.gif

The truth is Paul, I think I'm starting to lose grip of things but they've been well
out of whack to start with and probably never were!! wacko.gif

What exactly is the main problem/symptom on your auto petrol Exclusive?
