SWMBO gets home today .... "The air-conditioning has stopped again, the displays turned off and there is no fans". I go out and it works when I start the car, then everything goes out when I turn the fan speed up. If I wiggle the key it comes back. WTF ?? Don't tell me they put the full fan current through the bloody ignition burning it's contacts
Has anyone fixed this before ? Is there an easy way I can just add a relay before the ignition is completelly stuffed ? seeya, Shane L. -------------------- Location ... Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.

Could be the famous S2 overheating fuse in the underbonnet fusebox.
Other than that, the ignition switches can wear and give problems, though this usually results in starting issues, not the loss of ancillaries like the Xantias do. I've had both problems, just trying to find the thread links for you. /EDIT: Here's the reference to the melting heater fuse: http://club-xm.com/forum/index.php?showto...hl=heater&st=20 Ciarán This post has been edited by Ciaran on January 05, 2009 10:37 am -------------------- '95 XM 2.1TD VSX Hatch: RP 6429. Ever wondered why the wires on the ignition switch are so thick...... xantia usually loses heater and rear screen due to it going through the switch. i bet they did it like you guessed. /add another job to the list, fit another relay........ Hi Shane
Check F2 in the engine bay fuse box, the contacts as well as the fuse. Citroen uprated this fuse to 40 Amp during S2 production but kept the minature size fuse and crap pressed tin contacts so did little towards solving the real problem that it aint a fit design for the current it carries. Contacts are trying to carry around 35 amps at peak load. These days at the first sign of trouble I bypass this fuse with a decent sized fuse carrier and matching wire. Thanks guys,
your not serious right ... A simple fix that doesn't require the car to be dismantled into half a billion peices..... I'll have to look and see I'll just put a self resetting circuit breaker in there if that's the problem ! seeya, Shane L. -------------------- Location ... Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.

Thanks Guys,
I check that fuse and found one very melted blob, that may well have been a fuse at some point.... Don't touch it the damn thing is very hot if the fans have been running for 20seconds or so I have a nice auto-reset 40amp circuit breaker sitting infront of me to replace it with seeya, Shane L. -------------------- Location ... I think you are a trifle cynical Shane, some jobs can take as little as five hours!
