Hi Guys

Having finally got one with an intact code pad cover, after a few weeks, the cover now won't stay closed ! B***er !!

So -- I'm guessing whatever spring loads the retaining jaws must have died. Is there a fix thet doesn't involve umpteen hours grief ??

Mike.

The little 'device' that holds the key pad cover shut and releases it on the next press works on the same principle as a cheap retractable ball point pen. However I think that the average ball point pen mechanism is more durable!!
When my cover refused to stay shut due to the above failure I toyed with the idea of inserting a steel screw in the hole and gluing a small button magnet to the underside of the cover - OK it would not have worked like the original but at least it would stay shut. In the end I gave in and bought a new one which appeared on ebay.

Ken

PS Don't suppose you need reminding, but the whole cover shebang from Citroen is listed at £22.83 and is part no 96020819ZL.

Hi Mike

The latch catcher is a separate bit that clips into place. I might well have a working spare or so as they tend not to fail as often as the hinge pivot points. Will have a look and let you know.

Have just had a look at one and can confirm the above. That one was not broken so I will not pull it to bits as I have a car needing it. I should find a spare one over the unit tonight or tomorrow and will get it into the post as soon as I can.

John
