Hi Ceasar

If you will want to drive with foreign plates in the UK, I don't know.

If you will want to register the car, 1st you will have to pass the MOT (roadworthiness) test (about £49 standard) even if you have a valid one from your place, then, 2nd, insure the car (not a problem to do even with an EU license+LHD), 3rd, go an register it with the DVLA (free or small fee, can't remember) paying the road tax (£100 for 6 months, £190 for a year for your XM).

To insure your car, if you will have any years of "no-claims" driving from your previous insurers, you should bring a letter from them stating it, and then your new UK insurer will take it from there. I had 6 years "no claims" when I started insuring my car in the UK. If you start at 0-1-2 years the fee will be astronomically high.

I now have 9 years "no claims" and pay £200/year for a 3lt XM although it's a LHD and my driving license is EU.

cheers
George

ps. if u r going to be bringing your XM to the UK, don't bother repairing the paintwork now....

Don't get disheartened if you don't win the bidding on the two catalogues Caesar, they do pop
up on ebay fairly regularly and if not, I've got a spare well read one somewhere you could have!
I purchased another better condition one at the same price the current auctions are - don't expect
to see the price of these go much higher but there's sometimes a rush at the end!

If I'm forced to weigh in some spare Xm's I'm clearing, are you specifically looking for identically
coloured panels or would any do if the car is getting a full repaint? Assuming of course you want
to brave it and venture to our disintegrating UK sad.gif

I'll see how the auction goes, I don't necessarily want a mint condition one, I'd be quite happy with a scan wink.gif But then again, it's a nice piece of memorabilia

Frankly, I have to say I'd like to fix the roof (to see if the roof will need a repaint) and other minor issues first before going for the panels. There are also quite a few spares available here. Anyway, I'd probably only want green colored panels. If you encounter some staggeringly good (in terms of price and condition) piece somewhere, PM me, but otherwise I have to say no. But I really appreciate the effort! (also, I'm not coming to the UK for sure yet, still waiting to see how it turns out)

Yep, I've read the look what they've done thread :-/ I believe it has to do with the overall well-being and the resulting laziness and lack of motivation in younger people. No way to avoid it I guess... unsure.gif

The format for the brochure is oversized at 30cm square, the pictures are brilliant,
the gloss paper stock heavy and lavish with a technical section stitched in the rear
pages and there's quite a good few pages including a flap on the back cover with
colour/trim swatches - there's no arguing if you like Xm's this is a fabulous piece of
memorabilia. There are different language versions of this if English isn't your
preferred default language.

The roof is probably best treated by a paintshop pro as you've planned to try though
I'd imagine it easier to use filler as there isn't any bare metal to worry about than try
and get behind to have the pimples taken out - the metal will have been stretched so
some skill is required to shrink the pimples.

Take a look at http://cgi.ebay.com/1990-Citroen-XM-V6-24-...Item#vi-content it's in Dutch, not in German as the guy says, but hey, a V6 24v brochure!! But those 25 USD with shipping is still making me think, does anybody else have this one? I might be interested in buying it, just in a better langauge tongue.gif

Got the brochures today... they say Emerald green was for V6 (and V6 24v) only, while Triton green was for the 4 cylinder engines only (at least for 1990-1992), so inherently my 24v has to be Emerald (in case somebody was solving the same kind of problem in the future)

Why not just quate the paint code stencilled on the panel near the battery?
Someone is sure to put you right if you are in any doubt.

I already said somewhere it starts with YsR, but we couldn't figure out what color that was

The YSR doesn't sound like the complete code: can you trace any lettering ahead of it
beginning with a letter "E"?
