At GREAT expense I have just had my front height corrector and spheres replaced, but the car doesn't seem to go up very far when I select high.

My 2.1 goes upto about two fists height, whereas 2.5 (with same struts - I checked) only goes up about 1 fist height.

Is this right?

I guess you mean two fists between tyre and wheelarch? If that's the case, I don't think it's normal. At least on my 2.5 it would seem around two 'fists' as well. (A fist being what I think you mean by it, ie: a fist wacko.gif )

Hi all,

The height reached is subject to a number of factors-
'health' of the spring metal between the anti-roll bar and the height corrector
height corrector wear
'health' of the plastic connector onto the height corrector

If the height doesn't match what it says in the manual, just loosen the bolt on the clamp which sets the height and adjust as necessary. This is safest done on a ramp because the HC can let the car down when you're under it and crush the beer can sitting under the sill. And we can't have you spilling your beer now can we?..?..!

Cheers

Hi All

I am pleased to see that I am not alone, that most of us with more than one XM available have an avid interest in the size of the gap between the top of our XM's tyres and the wheel arches. Something that we must check on immediately using the most accurate measuring equipment available, our hands and fingers.
It must cause some amusement for my neighbours. It cannot generate quite the same interest for those of us without a second vehicle to check against or do the less endowed owners find other peoples XM's in car parks an carry out clandestine checks. Perhaps we should just accept that no 2 XM's are identical despite comming off the same automated production line. Anyone had their fingers crushed while doing the checks?

Regards

XMexc

Have now been alerted, by pa-in-law that my struts are not 100%, occasional clunk-clunk noises from front-end when turning and/or bouncing along.

Presumably this could be the problem vis-a-vis height if struts not sealing internally??? (No sign of LHM in odd places though)

Ho-hum, another fine mess! wacko.gif

Could also be the drop-links off the torsion bar (alot cheaper to replace and quite a common fault, I currently have mine to do but can wait some more cool.gif )
