Hi all

Any experts on Bosch pumps here? The black hatch that I have just returned to service seems to have a problem. When I first drove it, it knocked quite severly at around 2000 rpm and was very harsh, sounded as though the pump timing was over advanced, it went OK apart from a little smoke when running full throttle at 2k. I retarded the pump by about 1/16" and it now sounds a lot quieter, still smokes though, but it now sounds over retarded at low revs, very quiet tickover and not much pull below about 1500 rpm. The chap I bought it from said he had some work done on the pump. It sounds as though the advance curve is wrong, is that possible? The performance is no better than the estates, I would have thought it should have been as its lighter, and they don't smoke.
