Hi Folks
This hatchback I have just put the clutch in has hard suspension, I thought the spheres are bound to need replacing, so I did, the centre front one anyway. No improvement. I borrowed the suspension ECU from the other car and Eureka! I now have soft suspension. I now hopefully only have to fit a couple of diodes in the other one. I kept all the ECUs from my original S1 for this reason, now them taking up space is finally justified

Hi Ciaran
The great thing was that I could substitute a non modified Ecu with a modified one, which gave me an instant diagnosis. I am hoping to fix the other one this afternoon, I have the car taxed from Monday. Peter. -------------------- Used to have:

why keep a car! I got a shead STUFFED full.. but still cant keep everything
I cant agree more when it comes to ECU's. Whats the chances of having TWO duff ecu's in the same place.... But how far do you go for keeping things???? Rgds Paul -------------------- 1993 K Reg 3.0 V6 12 Valve Auto (Green) LPG S1.5 SORNd

I think that answers it. If you can have a spare donor car lying about the place all the items are in exactly the same position as the car you're trying to fix! So long as you put them back in the right position AGAIN when you've finished and've either bought/found the replacement for the busted item that caused the issue in the first place... I was organised once, but had to move venue and everything was rather hastily bundled about and now I don't stand a chance of finding anything. The alternative is to buy what you need when you need it off ebay - unfortunately now, that's a bit like I'd imagine having your fingernails pulled out one by one feels like! Andrew |

Hi Paul
As Andrew says, if you have a spare car at least you know you have all the bits. That was exactly what I bought this one for but it was such a nice car I didn't have the heart to scrap it. But now I have a complete set of known working parts that I can swap to fault find, well electrical anyway. As from today it is road legal, I have just taken it down the bypass and put some fuel in. I will post a photo when I have cleaned it Peter. -------------------- Used to have:

Paul, it sounds like you need help! A penchant for dirty black XM's is something I'm sure
they can help you work out! Go on - let Peter wash his Xm - it deserves a wash to match its shiny new MOT!! Andrew The Polariods will be in the post? |
