...is that beside the First Aid Kit and the inflatable bed; I've never bothered to look?

You were right Dave, it was the front motor securing screw.
After sealing the aerial base it leaked again the following morning, then not at all for weeks. I thought that was the end of it, but this past week it came back with a vengence. It was getting worse and letting huge deluges in every single time it rained (we've had a lot lately). I kept meaning to investigate it further, but have been extremely busy with other things lately, so haven't had the time. I finally lost the rag this morning though, when I got into the car to goto a meeting, turned a corner, and a massive torrent of water poured out of the roof and into the crotch of my cream trousers, making it look amusingly like I'd pissed myself. Fantastic So driving home tonight, it had been raining all day, and I kept getting water in the face, down my arm, all over the centre console etc everytime the car moved or turned even a little. I thought there must be a more serious leak with the sheer amount it was letting in, but no, upon checking the aerial base it was dry as a bone. I then removed the light, and immediately saw a tiny drip coming out the rubber grommet around the front screw. It appears someone has tightened it up in the past and crushed the rubber. Also, there was the tiniest amount of aincent, crusty sealent on it, and I'm sure that didn't help. So I smothered it in new RTV stuff and put it back, so it seems fine now. Checked the sunroof cables while I was at it and they seem in very good nick, but I must grease them sometime anyway. It was surprising just how much water it was letting in, as when I checked it, there was a tiny droplet there and that's it. Strange... Ciarán -------------------- '95 XM 2.1TD VSX Hatch: RP 6429. Great news; yes really. There seems an over abundant volume of water flowing from
the heavens at the moment (well it is almost August after all - British Summer and all that) and fixes like this are totally invaluable! Thanks Ciarán Andrew |

I know the feeling Ciarán. Like me, it has nothing to do with being up at stupid o'clock
in the morning on web forums! Andrew This post has been edited by Andmcit on August 01, 2008 01:24 am |

No, nothing at all to do with that Andrew
I should have been in bed hours ago, have been working from 07:30 to midnight all week, and will be all weekend, and that's only if things go according to plan! So, I should have taken the few spare hours tonight and got some much needed sleep.....but nooooo, here we are heading for 3 in the morning, and I'm having a gurn on a car forum! Still, it'll be fun when I drag myself out of bed in 4 hours and piss and moan for most of the morning Ciarán -------------------- '95 XM 2.1TD VSX Hatch: RP 6429. Rare green ;-)
