Being from the other side of the world, we Aussies have to plan our forays to "the continent" a long way ahead. As you may be aware, in 1 year and 12 days (ie 15/8/8) ICCCR 2008 is on at Vallelunga.
Mrs UFO and I are going and I know some other Aussies are going too. Anyone from this forum likely to be going? Before you ask, we will not be bringing our XM. We will be Euroleasing a C3 or perhaps a C4 diesel for the 12 weeks we will be in Europe. I was offered free use of a mid series 2 12v but there are a few negatives: 1/ It is in the UK - so we would have to collect and drive/ferry etc to France 2/ It is petrol so the cost difference even in the run from Paris to Vallelunga would be at least $100Aus compared to a C3 Hdi 3/ RHD in LHD Europe - don't think so 4/ Driving an XM in tight Italian streets etc. Probably, but... 5/ No warranty and would not have tools So all in all the leased C3 is a better option, although higher on the bland scale. Hope to meet some fellow Citroen internet nutters there. -------------------- Craig Keller

So, I never did get a reply on this one.
Is anyone from this forum going to ICCCR in SIX weeks time? We have leased our vehicle, a C4 EGS Hdi, and will be in Italy from 12 August. If anyone from here is going I would love to make contact at ICCCR and not repeat what happened at the DS Jubilee where I found out later that people had been there but we never crossed paths. Cheers! -------------------- Craig Keller

Driving an auto CX in Italy in summer. Well at least the aircon works now. Care to start a charity to fund the fuel bill?

Gee they're an exciting mob this. Seems not one European XM owner from this forum is going to Italy. Perhaps it's too far?

Yes that just about sums it up in the UK Ufo. Motorists well and truly screwed by Gordon Brown's excuse for a government. Fuel at nearly £6.00 a gallon. £100 to fill the tank. Car tax rising every year. Gas and electric bills through the roof. Mortgages the same (if you can get one!). Other than that everything's fine.

Holy fuel bill Batman! £100 to fill the tank of an XM. I remember cringing the first time $100 ticked over on my XM. I think when I bought it some years ago petrol in Aus was about 75 cents/litre. Now we are into the $1.60 to $1.70/litre territory with serious talk of $2 by Xmas (yeah, probably just in time for Xmas).
I just worked out you are paying about $2.70 AUD per litre! Lucky you only have a small country to get around. We have to make a trip to see the inlaws before we head to Italy. The trip is 420km each way. A little over a tank of petrol in an XM - so probably about $160 worth of petrol. Lucky the accommodation is free! Anyway, if it isn't one thing kicking you up the bum it's another. -------------------- Craig Keller

Nah, I reckon we'd get almost there and back.... and be able to turn around and drive back there on one tank of fuel in the XM ..... If you take it easy I reckon my CX would go there and back on 80litres of fuel, so your probably better of taking the CX seeya, Shane L. Oh if I took it "easy" I could do it, but that is difficult in an XM! Mind you this weekend's trip will be while the snow idiots are out so the cops will be there too. Better peg the CC back that little extra.
Then again the cops might all be in Sydney making sure the Pompmobile doesn't run any red lights or speed. -------------------- Craig Keller
