It should not be too dear, though it won't fit a 2.5. Seller has described it precisely and correctly, it seems, so if it is correct for your car, go ahead if you want one.

Hi Folks,
My vehicle is an AUTO, so not required by myself. I thought the forum idea, is to HELP other folks if possible. Would appear that I have "Rattled Someones Little Cage" by posting my find. Shame about that, can't own the market. Hope it helps someone else out.

Hi Jim,

If you are referring to Andmcit's post then knowing him I'm certain it was meant in a light hearted way. Generally things are very easy going on here and no one would knock you for posting this on the forum.

Are you saying I've got a small cage!!?

wink.gif I just saw everyone bidding against one another now and the finish price being silly!
Actually I saw a roll-eyes smiley as a bit harsh so 'mellow' seemed appropriate!

In the spirit of this forum of course finds like this should be mentioned and in fact if
someone's need is greatest a collective abstaining from bidding. Usually there will be
those (like myself) who've seen it and wondered about bidding IF nobody else here
was stated as being interested in bidding; I'd hate to bid against someone I know
here.

I need to do a clutch on two 2.1td's and do have x2 replacements!

Andrew

Well I never ! ! ! Can't believe somebody did not sport £12-99 delivered. Do manuals last that long ? ? ? ? Less than 3 gallons of petrol.

I paid £116.00 for mine, and then it was the wrong one! The clutches do last a long time, I have only replaced the thrust bearing on mine for that reason. It had a new engine 77K miles ago and there is hardly any pereptable wear on the clutch linings or the release fingers. The last one I sold had covered 292k and the clutch only started slipping about 10k before I sold it, and got very little worse in that time. The torque from the diesels is such that you very rarely have to slip the clutch, they will pull away at tickover. Using them for towing or very bad driving are probably the only things that will wear them rapidly.

I think one of mine slips randomly and other times will pull the wall off a house with no complaint
(not something I'm normally prone to doing mind but you get the mind picture!) which suggests
there may in fact be a crank oil leak messing with the linings.

I'll give you first shout Peter if I take it into my head I need rid of it as it's a late s1 SD manual
estate in pewter grey showing moderate mileage!! I know I'm a tease and you just like s2's right!? tongue.gif

not too sure about this one,

we rang the seller to find out what this clutch fits and all he would say is "give me your chassis number and I'll tell you"

When provided with the chassis number he says it's no good but can get us one for £170.

I was tempted to bid in the last seconds and get it for £0.99p and ask if I could collect as they're only about 15miles from me. But to be honest, I can live without the hassle.

It is actually the third time that this 99p clutch has been listed on eBay.

I reckon the reason they are flogging it off cheap is because it has a very limited application. By my reckoning it only fits a post 6th January 1998 (RP 7729) 2.0 litre (non turbo) (XU10J4R) petrol estate - correct me if I'm wrong.

I thought it might fit my 2.1TD (same diameter 235mm) but the only common part number is the release bearing (p/n 204147).
