You can undo the pressure relief screw and the suspension should not drop, but it is essential to put her on axle stands or ramps whenever going underneath just in case.
The fdv is mounted on the front of the gearbox with 3 pipes going into it on each side (6 in total).

From what I remember of my school chemistry titrations, 20 drops = 1ml.
So your leakage rate is 6ml per minute - rather high as Derek says.

During the time I was pulling my hair out trying to fix binding front brakes (eventually turned out to be a lack of clearance at the doseur valve 'button') I measured my doseur leakage rate at 2.5 ml per minute which I believe was within tolerance.

Sorry but I can't remember the upper limit figure, I might have seen in it an article by Noz or there might be something in the well known 'Technical Guide'.

Well, I reached the end of my abilities and resources so I finally took the XM to the shop.

It turns out that it was a faulty pressure regulator. Really faulty. As in, completely jammed. Apparently it shouldn't look like this:

Now that's been replaced it drives like a completely different car. No sudden drops, and also it takes hours for the car to settle when parked, rather than minutes. cool.gif
