I know what you mean Tim,
He is referring to the straps with the poppers on that are on the map pockets in the back of the front seats........very useful for stopping the shopping bags falling over and all you stuff rolling around the place. As regards cup holders, the arm rest/cubby box is excellent for putting drinks in, but you have to have just the right amount of rubbish in there to stop the cup falling over, or failing that buy 4 coffees and they pack in nicely D -------------------- 92 xm 20i prestige auto (modified)R.P 5678

My sister who is effortlessly more organised than myself has found the central armrest cubby a
great storage area for bottles of mineral water where they're kept well insulated and chilled for those 5 days of heatwave we get once a year that we call "Summer". Hang on, we're not straying off the subject of the original thread here are we!? Andrew |

Oh speaking of random tangents, heres one for you.
Dunno if anyone else has ever had this, but one day about a year ago, I was in my S2, accelerating hard to merge onto the motorway, when I heard a beep, looked down, and the dot matrix was saying 'Warning - Overload'. I was thinking 'WTF', when I looked down and saw the radio was displaying the same message (I assume it actually came from there in the first place, and was repeated on the dot matrix). Anyone else ever had this? It was very random. Ciarán -------------------- '95 XM 2.1TD VSX Hatch: RP 6429. Rare green ;-)

That is weird!!
I've had my 24v v6 tell me to slow down!! I kid you not - I was being a bit of a loon and I guess all the gauges were maxed out apart from the fuel one!! Probably had the oil about to reach critical mass and vapourise!! Andrew This post has been edited by Andmcit on June 22, 2008 02:06 am |

Ok, now we're on a roll; what are those handles in the headlining all about anyway? Are they really
used to help haul yourself out of the car? The seats aren't exactly like big squashy marshmallows that grip hold of you and make egress difficult!! And the lamps inside their cutouts? Hopeless; we all know they're there but do they actually do any work to justify their existence and position!!? Bit like politicians really... I'll get my coat... The matrix says 'slow down' as a second message if the water temperature is getting too high. It starts off with something about high temperature and then alternates between that and 'slow down'. It should coincide with the water temp warning lights being on.

Yep, I believe it does 'Engine temp too hot - Slow down', accompanied by the wee orange thermometer 'water pre-warning' light, and both fans run full boot.

Possibly... after all, it IS a 24v'er, and the road was quiet, and... dammit - there isn't a smiley for 'innocently' whistling!! Andrew |

Hohum, I KNOW; but apparently in my case only when I'm driving the relatively sluggish Xantia TD! This was a good while back when I first had the car and succumbed to the voices inside my head that said, "yeah, see how fast it can go..." or is that, "let's see if this sukker can do 90..." I truly have slowed my driving down a lot from my younger days though still drive an Activa a CX GTi T2 and the 24v'er 'briskly'. Perhaps my Court appearance may have been more untennable had I been in one of these instead of the Xantia... Andrew This post has been edited by Andmcit on June 24, 2008 12:18 am |
