Item No 280230152186
2.1 Auto Exclusive, looks and sounds like a reasonable car only real fault being listed as a 'slight weep from around the pressure regulator'-is this a major/costly job? Has anyone here any knowledge of this particular car-I know what a small workd the XM forum can be!
This car is my desired model-diesel and exclusive-just at £1250 does it seem a reasonable price?

Many thanks in anticipation.....

Alan.

Hi Alan

the pressure regulator weeping should be an easy job if it's the expected bottom o-ring seal that wips -a few pennies cost from Cit and a job u can do yourself at home as many people here can explain-. I think though for the price he's asking he should provide you with a photo or precise indication of where exactly it's leaking.

Looks like a well maintened car, u might want to ask why it seats low at the rear on the bottom left photo -this car should have the antisink system so should stay up for days-.

cheers and good luck.
George

£1250 blink.gif

Sorry guys, but for any 'M' reg French car that seems far far too much, even for a beloved XM. Or am I still in a dream bubble of 5 years ago when XM's were almost giveaway if they had a minor fault or a hydraulic leak. wacko.gif

I can offer you a 2.5 XM estate for roughly half that, i.e. twice the car half the price!

I agree with wirdy, the price does seem a bit high, considering the age and the mileage.
The combined price of my two M reg exclusives was 420 quid. Niether of them has a leather interior, and they're not as tidy as that one, but the only faults they had were electrical - cruise control, windows, etc.
I think the seller has been looking at Wolsey House prices.

Talking of Walsey House, how about this one.............

Anyone care to take a guess at the reserve...........

Quite right everyone,

I think you can pay a premium for diesel MANUAL or ESTATE but an auto saloon even in diesel should be fairly cheap.

Hold your nerve and the right car will show up at the right price.

Perhaps you're right-I should hold out! But Auto TD's in exclusive trim don't seem to appear too often!

Hi Henry

You are right about the scarcity of 2.1 exclusives with all the extras but before you pay a premium price make as sure as you can that it really is in first class order. Auto boxes tend to go suddenly usually somewhere between 80k and 160k and usually write the car off but if you prefer auto's then that it is a reasonable risk to take. Also check the actual exclusive spec of the car. For example not all exclusives have heated seats.
Hope you find the XM that you are looking for.
Regards

XMexc

Thanks XmExc -according to the listing it DOES have the heated seats(fronts don't work but then they make you feel as if you've wet yourself!)and all the other toys too, and he also says that the gearbox fluid has been changed regularly-apart from going to see the car-impractical due to geography- you would have to take his word for it....After all he is an XM(albeit soon to be ex) owner! It is not too often you see S2 Exclusive with full leather-you normally get that half leather half alcantara ( that looks tatty after a bit).

Alan.

Well I did it-bought with my heart and not my head-only hope is I don't live to regret!
So my current XM will be available-CitroenXm says he regards it as fairly immaculate....
I think it's pretty tidy and ALL electrics inc sunroof work.
So I'll get some photos done and post them here first before I 'do' eBay...
Watch this space...

Alan.
