Yesterday collected my new acquisition-a '95 2.1 TD auto Exclusive-and amongst the few niggles is this- after having the aircon on when you switch off the engine I've noticed that the climate control display remains lit up and active ( this caused the battery to go flat and a visit from RAC as I'd not noticed it was on). So what I do at present is pull the under bonnet (30A) fuse -this car has had the 'bypass' fuse fitted as presumably the original burnt out. Now this ONLY happens when the aircon has been running-not just the cooling/heating fan-when I pull the fuse I think I hear a 'click' like a relay dropping out-has anyone experienced this or have a solution/idea as to if (and where) this relay might be so I can replace it?

Many thanks,

Alan.

PS I'll take some pics and post 'em soon...

Hi there,
I am guessing the 30A relais is not switching of. On the type 2 version its is place under the glove compartment. Its green and small and is marked with 30A. Let me know. Succes

A while ago I removed the glovebox and found an 'additional' relay fitted I think by Wolsey house motors-this is energised by the action of turning on the aircon and SHOULD drop out when turned off but does not. I disconnected this relay (after trying a replacement ) and checked the operation of everything all seems to be in order-aircon on/off when requsted (the compressor clutch operates OK) main concern was cooling fans and they're all OK-so this 'additional' relay remains disconnected!

Alan.

Everything is there for a reason. Take a look at the wiring diagrams and make sure to fix anything which is not working as intended. Bypassing a relay or hot wiring is guaranteed to cause trouble mad.gif
