I'm loving that CX Shane, really lovely example of a GTI turbo, and I've always had a thing for the look of the series 2s as well..

That wee GS trailer is a fantastic idea! Does it have a dolly wheel at the front where the towing bar is?

Robert... I think we may have just found a use for project shitbox.... would kind of put the brakes on the Xantia Cabriolet idea though....

Yeah the GS is a '78 1220 pallas .... cut in half with a tow hitch at the front. The front "doors" are the petrol tank closing panel from a DS. A CX windscreen wiper motor drives the hydraulic pump on the trailer.

I'm in the process of painting it the same colour as the CX Turbo at the moment, this has (like the 50 other projects I always have going) been put on hold onto the XM is finished.

This is the GS ...

Cracking job Shane, I didn't realise you'd kept the trailer hydraulics intact. Does the pump run all the time or just on demand? I presume it has a pressure regulator and accumulator etc?

There is a CX reseviour, CX 7cylinder pump and regulator/accumulator mounted to the parcel shelf.

to run the pump all I have done is put a mirco-switch on the height corrector. When the height corrector opens to allow more pressure into the suspension (ie: lift the trailer) it pushes on the micro-switch. The mircro-switch just earths the earth pin on the wiper motors relay.... and the pump runs... As soon as the trailer is upto height, the height corrector closes, so the pump stops.

Shane L.

Owning too many cars is a pain and no fun, sometimes. Things you have to do:

Taxing or SORN - this takes me about an hour a month
Tyre pressure checks and tyres going square
Rodents
Grass snakes
Visitors saying "Why do you want so many cars?" And that's only after they've seen the 5 on the drive!
Insurance
Security
Keeping batteries topped up
Cleaning
Protecting from sun and rain
Kids
Using them in rotation to keep them 'loose' and not seized

Space and the cost isn't the issue, it's the labour of love to do all the above. And then you can enjoy them...

I guess if you own so many Rovers or British Leyand, you need to watch the rain.. laugh.gif

Sorry verytallbrad, couldn't help that, one advantage of Citroen is the slightly better rust protection, unless abused.. tongue.gif

I must say, its an impressive collection of Rovers.. I thought I was mad with 5 XM's at my peak..
