A very late model V6 with all the goodies is probably my dream XM, and this one sure looks good. A note of caution though - history on a Malaysian car is critical. It also pays to know and understand where the car has lived and how it has been used - i.e. was it a self drive or did the owner have a driver, was the owner an expat who previously had Citroens etc. Some areas of Malaysia are extremely harsh on a car - e.g. I'd be very careful if the car had lived in Johore Bahru. If it has lived in the highlands or one of the cooler areas then that is good. I've spent a lot of time in the Singapore / Malaysia part of the world and can testify to the toll the tropical environment takes on cars.
Having said all that - this one looks a stunner. I'd always wondered what a battery cover looks like! Good luck with your decision. Regards, Kiwi -------------------- XM 2.1TD Auto RP 6632

The owner of the car bought it when it was new and when he lived in London.
The car has done minimal mileage since being in Malaysia and has lived in an Air Conditioned garage. I am sure the car is 100% mint like the pictures show. Unfortunately however i am looking to go back to university to change career and at the age of 21 spending that kind of money on an XM is to much. I wouldn't want to use it every day as the mileage would go up to quickly and spending that much money on a car to sit and look at whilst at University is daft. If the owner still has the car when i finish University then I will be there to buy it like a flash. Regards David. -------------------- 1990 V6 SEi Auto - breaking for spares.

This is interesting. There is an Aussie that lives sometimes in Malaysia and sometimes in Melbourne. He is a member of the Aussiefrogs forum (see link below). I am pretty certain that this guy is seriously considering buying the XM being discussed here.
So if he does, rest assured it will be well cared for and may even come to sunny and dry Australia one day. -------------------- Craig Keller

I paid £7,125 to Paul Johnson for my V6 five years ago with 48k miles on.
Probably, no, certainly over the top but it was what I wanted and I've never regretted it. I love driving it, it's my summer car and goes for its MOT tomorrow, back on the road on the 1st April. Derek -------------------- 1999 3.0V624v Exclusive Black! (RP8362)

Actually the import duty and other taxes might not be payable... If it is still registered here! which is not as impossible as it might seem. My father has just re-patriated a Rolls Royce Silver Dawn from the US using this.. The car was exported in the early 80's but no one ever bothered to tell the DVLA as a result he was able to apply and even get a V5 for it along with its original number plate).. and thus 'proove' it was a UK car and no duty payable.

Already looked into this...
The DVLA were notified or permanent export in 2004. Thanks anyway. David. -------------------- 1990 V6 SEi Auto - breaking for spares.
