I've noticed stamped on the bottom of suspension spheres is a number next to the orifice rolleyes.gif

My two old front wheel spheres are no 34. I have another marked 20. There are probably more on my other old spheres but I never checked. Anyone know what they are?

I thought you needed special rechargeable spheres to be able to reuse them?
Am I wrong? My old one is starting to feel like it needs them changing again, and my bothers got some axle stands now.

It used to be that the pressure was stamped (punched ) on the outside near the filling plug tho this might be an old school thing. My CX has '75' punched into the metal there. (even though they were recharged to 80 smile.gif )

I just assumed the other numbers were a Citroen part number?

Recharging spheres only needs the filler plug changed for a 'refill' type. It's a special plug that has a valve and adapter to fit the filling gas bottle. I've even got a video about it somewhere.... ph34r.gif

Hi, I think the number on the bottom relates to the size of the hole in the bottom valve , determining the amount of fluid passing into the lower part of the sphere.
You find some cars will have the same gas pressure but differing valve size. We have had cars come in with odd spheres which causes them to sometimes act funny on the road.
On the earlier cars, CXs, Gs etc they used lines on the valve instead of a number.

We also have the kit to recharge spheres, replacing the cap for a valve.
We are on the look out for some Valprex 7mm valves for doing DS and CXest spheres if anyone knows of a source. GSF don`t stock them anymore.

And I thought they were an inspector's stamp as they do not seem to bear any relevance to the sphere spec. as far as I can see.
