Hi Andrew
Can't help you there, I was thinking of fitting them to mine but with a bit of modification you can improve the exixting ones substantially, I'm now quite happy with mine. Peter. -------------------- Used to have:

Hi Andrew
Sorry it must be at least a year ago so cannot remember now who the actual suppliers of mine were. The last two sets I got were bought off ebay direct from HK for around £100 the pair. I think Derek did the same. Will have a look on ebay and see if that prompts my memory. John -------------------- An interest in 2.5TD's.

Got mine from Hong Kong too, for a rock bottom price. Forgot the seller's name, sorry.

I've bought three sets now, two from one seller, one different set from another. All the light units looked the same, all three sets of ballast igniters were superficially different but the cabling was identical. Both suppliers were Hong Kong based and all three sets were made in China. All work well. I remember that other forum members have bought Chinese units from HK suppliers as well. The only complaint I recall seeing was about an American unit.

That's brilliant thanks! It's much more reassuring to know you guys have dealt with these kits
and in Jan's case this seller! Will pursue this once there's a bit more cash in my pocket the end of the month - cashflow hasn't been helped with my buying another car... Andrew |

Chaps,
There seems to be a large price range on these conversion kits. Are the cheap ones garbage and not worth the trouble, or are the more expensive ones just overpriced? I'm also moving to France with my XM next year and plan to fit head lamps from a LHD car. Is the improvement over the RHD versions great? -------------------- 1980 CX Athena (W)

Hi Robert, my experience is that there isn't alot in it between uk spec and european spec lights (series 2). I paid something like £70.00 inc postage for my HID kit over 1 year ago and have (touch wood) no problems whatsoever. The improvement is dramatic ! I now need to upgrade my main beams as they are pathetic in comparison to the upgraded dip beams
I bought a 4300k set from Hong Kong. Go for it, you won't regret it and can always transfer the setup to another xm should you buy a Lhd version (you will) once in France. Best wishes, Colin.P -------------------- Colin.P.

Hi Robert, i bought a pair of lhd head lights for mine here in France (from a scrapper - a 98 car) and swap them over when returning to the uk.There is no noticeable difference when driving with either set.The hid is carried over from lhd to rhd as needed, it only takes 20/30 mins to drop the nosecone and swap them over, nice to have them pointing the right way and no need to fiddle with adjusters.

I see these sellers offer s 3000k yellow version, would look cool in a CX, would also look good if you would like to recreate the very first xm publicity shots. Although the yellowing lenses on my xm are getting there on their own.

Hi Robert,
I'll be spending 5 months in France this time, and agree that it will be a lot neater to fit LHD lights. I'm also toying with the idea of fitting a French speedo unit in also, anyone know if they are compatible (series 2)? -------------------- 1980 CX Athena (W)

Hi all
Due to get my car back from its 10 day hols at my indie's garage tomorrow and contemplating buying an HID conversion kit after reading about and seeing the benefits of all on here. However, I'm not at all mechanically or electrically minded (hence the great choice of an XM!) but I can follow instructions very well - presumably the kits are straightforward and contain idiot proof instructions? Also, did most people find removing the nosecone and/ or headlamp units the best way of doing it? I seem to recally skinning my knuckles simply replacing a bulb on the nearside... Can't speak for most people, but I think this is indeed the easiest way as it gives maximum access and it will take only a few minutes, well maybe 10 minutes, to remove the nose and detach the headlamps -------------------- 2000 XM 3.0 V6 24v Exclusive Auto 70k km (LHD; ORGA 8569)

Thanks Jan
Having never removed the nosecone before (and searching on here for a good couple of hours for instructions), am I right in thinking it's the bolts across the top of the panel and then one behind each of the sidelights? Are there any other fixings? Mine's an S2 like yours if that makes a difference? Cheers Keith -------------------- 00W Citroen XM 3.0i V6 24V Exclusive
