If you find that your indicator functionallity is intermittant or non-existant it may be worth having a close look at the relay before condeming it to the dustbin. These are electronic so should be very reliable. The little beasties are really tucked out of the way on the fuseboard, so watch out for skinned knuckles. Once you get it out you will see that the plastic cover prises off easy enough. Have a close look at the printed cct board and you may find a dry joint as I did. You have to look really hard. A quick dab with a soldering iron and I'm a FLASHER again. Mind you, all you gits that don't indicate (and there seem to be a lot about) you won't be affected by this will you? I'm sure this does not apply to XM owners eh!
