Hi Noz

Try the above link. The car park is free but you have to pay to go to the museum of course. I don't know what their reaction would be to using the car park. They do have various rallies there including a Morris Minor do, but that is held actually inside the museum grounds. I don't think there would be sufficient of us to rent the place. Perhaps someone who lives closer could give us some more information.

Peter.N.

Sorry, yes that is Crich near Matlock, pronounced 'Crych'

The Tram museum itself has good facilities but you'd have to pay to get in, which could get expensive. I can have a look around sometime and take some photos if you like. I'm not sure I can do it straight away though.

Providing it's a weekend then it's fine by me.

Steve.

Retired members can go at almost any time.
One of them might be persuaded to organise it and do the necessary pre-inspection?

This is really exciting! I never expected any where near this response. biggrin.gif So I might get to meet all you masochists after all! laugh.gif

I could always ask back over at the BX Club or do peeps want to try a different weekend?

I could contact the museum and ask about "group" do's. I should imagine we'd have to let them know. They might not like a group of Xm's taking over the carpark rolleyes.gif I could also ask about camping/caravans as well.

So whats the concensus? It looks like people will definitely turn up so do we want to organise our own weekend or go with the BX group?

Is anyone in CCC as I'm lapsed I'm afraid? Can you check the calender and see if they do have a meet there in the spring?

I suppose being as I kicked this off originally I have to take some responsibility rolleyes.gif

I've emailed the tramway museum telling them who we are and asked if they have a free March/April weekend. Also asked about camping/caravan facilities.

I'll post the details when they reply.

We should run with a plan B in parallel otherwise we might find its not possible when its too late to organise anything else.

I know a couple of places in Hathersage or Bamford which is a little further north. Don't know the Crich area very well though.

Any other suggestions for a Plan B?

Can we have a show of hands for the 12/13 April please?

cheers

I'd be well up for this. It'd be great to meet up. I have to work every third weekend but I can always swap with enough notice.

Hi Noz

I agree, a plan 'B' would be good. Unfortunatly I cant make 12/13 April, its one of the few weekends we are booked.

Hello guys dont seem to get the time to look into the forum much now ,
I would love to attend a meet and can bring a caravan with awning and maybe the missus as well Derbyshire may be no problem for me from northampton but some sort of camping /caravan site would be good and with the van it would be possible to do some food barby etc then i can get you experts to examine my rattle .
yes its still going on .50 k later its still there and i am no nearer to curing it.
count me in if we can fix a date and suitable venue
Bob.

I've had a reply back from Roy Stone at Crich Tram Museum. As follows:

Hi David thanks for your email.

I have enclosed a list of Special Events for the 2008 season and we would be happy to have your club visit on any weekend when we are not operating an Event.

Please let me know if you are interested in a date then I can make sure that we have no other car clubs booked in at the same time.

We have a field opposite the Museum which can be used for overnight camping, but I must stress that this is just a field and has no facilities whatsoever.

We usually display visiting vehicles inside the Museum either at Town End tram stop, outside the Red Lion or around the Bandstand site.

The group rates are quoted on the enclosed list of dates, but any vehicle built prior to 1968 will qualify for driver free entry (all passengers pay the appropriate group rate.) Any vehicle built after 1968 ALL occupants pay the Appropriate group rate.

If one person acts as Group Organiser and arranges to make one payment to cover the whole party this usually works out best.

If you need any more info please contact me again.

Regards

Roy Stone
