I think for a country wide meet Crich is the best suggestion so far. Its a bit far from Scotland but handy for Wales and the North. Can we have a vote?

I suppose I'm in the middle ground.......midway between London and Edinborough.....so I don't really have a preference. I'll just do my best to get there.....wherever it is.

I can't really vote for Crich because it's on my door step but it is a nice place to spend a day if the weather's fine.

I STILL think or insist it should be MIDLANDS to be equal distance for EVERYONE except the lucky ones who live in the midlands

now ive finally looked at the map for crich, derbyshire, that seems a manageable place to get to. Never been to that area of UK before so YES I'm up for Crich too.

A travelodge may well be a VERY good idea too..

It's worth the trip just to look round the trams, if you are in to that sort of thing. It's in a very pleasant location with a huge car park.

Lets confirm that its Crich near Matlock? If so, it looks OK from Google maps, I've never been. There seems to be an obelisk or monument of some sorts to the north of the village. There appears to be some hard standing car parking for approx 20 cars and then much more in the way of grassed areas.

Does anyone know the area well enough to scout out the location to look for any low fences or suchlike to prevent parking on the grass? In the same breath, are there any physical restrictions like height barriers which would prevent a caravan going into the field just for the day? Does anyone know of any camping sites in the area? Can anyone scout around to see where we might get refreshments? Toilets? I have a standalone toilet tent and I think I can lay my hands on a chemical loo. Barbeque might be the answer for refreshments.

If we can get consensus on the venue then the next single largest hurdle is a date. Any suggestions? Needs to be before the main holiday season otherwise we'll never get enough free people to make it work. What about just after Easter? Our kids are off from the 7th to 15th April so weekend of 12/13 April would be OK. Any takers?
