Why would you, with 8 days to go? If there's no bidders in the last 2 minutes, then it's trouble.......

Yes if you want to win it the secret is NOT to bid.

I've got a winning bid in at 24 seconds and there was still time left. I reckon you could do it at 15.

Before I started using sniping software, I used to aim for the last 10 seconds. The secret is to have two windows open. In one of them, you enter your bid, and get to the screen with the confirmation button. In the other, you watch the auction, keep refreshing, and when it hits 10 secs, simply switch windows and hit Confirm. !0 seconds is plenty of time for that.

It's a fun game! It'll never get you a win against another sensible bidder who has more budget than you, but there's a lot of numpties on eBay who bid days before the end, bidding each other slowly up and up. They seem to get quite stroppy when everyone piles their bids in at the end - I've had angry emails from other Ebayers, both when I've won, and when I've lost, saying either that it's unfair I won, when they had the leading bid for days, or that I've cheated them by pushing the price up. They don't seem to understand that the nature of an auction is that everyone enters their highest bid, and whoever is highest wins. If they were happy to pay more than I did, why didn't they enter a higher max bid???
