The twin fans on my Series II seem to operate continuously. Is there a temperature sensor somewhere that I need to replace?

The only time I've seen them run constantly is when I bridged the contacts of the unpugged fan switch connector as a test. Perhaps your sensor has failed closed circuit?

Might be worth a check.

Is this a new fault or has the car always done this? -

as Ciaran said - someone may have bridged the fan relays to prevent overheating due to a temp sensor failure.

Unusual for a temp sensor to fail closed.

Have you got air con?
