Well Chaps,

I have got another XM to add to the fleet.

She's a '96 2.1 Turbo VSX Auto with the grey leather/alcantara interior. 72k on the clock.

I bought her so that I can keep the series 1 in excellent condition, and to keep the mileage down on it now that it has 34k on the clock.

She's now living it up in the motherland again in the east of France; where XMs are even thin on the ground!

Looks really nice Robert.

How does it compare to the S1?

Apart from the visual differences, mainly the dash and airbagged steering wheel, they're much the same. The mirrors are better on the series 2, the passenger side mirror isn't obscured as much as it is in the series 1.

Its hard to do a fair comparison between a manual petrol and an auto diesel. But I like it, and it looks much fresher and up to date than the series 1 dash. I prefer the series 1 dash, but have grown to like the series 2 one. Its not that similar to the Xantia in reality. All XMs feel that bit more special than the Xantias.

The series 1 is having a good long break, and will join the CX as a weekend car when I get back in the summer. I would love to keep using it, but then it'll loose a lot of its charm, there aren't many mint G plate XMs out there, let alone low mileage G plates.

The infamous S2. Having heard a lot about and shot about diagnosis for this car's problems, I have yet to see it in the flesh, until now! biggrin.gif

Looking well Robert. Is a darker blue than I thought.

You won't be disappointed with that 2.1 engine.

Very nice, it looks in great condition and a nice find too, there can not be many low mileage diesel Xms around now. Where did you find it?

You also have the best Xm wheels on the S2, im all for S2s cool.gif

Andrew

Is there a limit to picutre size on here?

All of the pictures i have posted are quite massive too. I upload from photobucket, i think you upload them, resize them and save then link them to the desired location.

I found it on Autotrader, and bought it locally in N.Ireland

Thankfully it has the manual bosch pump.

She's back on the steels and wheel tirms, now that I'm running it on winter tyres in France. The buggers here charge €15 to put a tyre on a rim, and balance it, so I left the summer tyres on the alloys and saved 60 quid at todays euro/pound exchange rates.

This weekend chaps, I was lucky to find a full grey leather interior from a series 1 XM, the car had only 72 k KM on the clock, between 45 and 50k miles in our money.

Here are the results:

Now if you're asking what happend this low mileage XM that the interior was for sale, unfortunatly the car was bought by an association that takes part in a carnival in their area. They have "decorated" the XM, and added a monstrosity to the roof, so that they can tow a float! I forgot to take pictures of it. But the car was really as good as the leather, a very rare car with a grey dash. A real shame, but that is life.
