Evening guys,
Well, its been a busy one today, you lot are going to be sick of the sight of me! In preparing the S1 for MOT, I found a plethora of supposedly dead bulbs, and a few other things. The one thing thats baffling me at the moment, is the driver's side repeater... or lack thereof. Basically, the repeater on that side doesn't work. I've never noticed this problem before now, because the indicators flash at normal rate, and not rapidly the way they tend to do when a bulb has gone. Of course, I've tried it with a new bulb, and the result is exactly the same. I'm finding this quite strange, as I would have expected rapid flashing, or does the XM think its clever and cover it up for you, unlike other cars? Would be interested in hearing everyone's thoughts! Cheers Ciarán -------------------- '95 XM 2.1TD VSX Hatch: RP 6429. Rare green ;-)

Have you stuck a meter on the wires to check for supply volts? might just be bad contacts
repeaters are only tiny wattage so won't affect flash rate. This post has been edited by wirdy on January 29, 2008 12:22 am -------------------- '99 'V' XM 2.0 CT VSX Auto Estate RP 8360 Green.

Hi Ciaran
I had the very same problem - intermittent or faint drivers side indicator repeater. All was in order at the repeater end and the problem was eventually traced to bad contacts in an oval? shaped plug and socket that sits on the sidewall to the left of the offside headlamp. Making and breaking the connection a few times restored the contact and vaseline was applied to prevent future problems. Road salt ingress was the most likely culprit. I had to replace three of the cross member mounted relays for the same reason when the blade terminals corroded away. Ken -------------------- 97R XM 2.1 TD VSX Saloon, RP 7249, Emerald Green

side repeater is only Taped from the front indicators somewhere.
They only flash rapidly when either the front or rear bulbs dont work the side repeater has no effect on the spped of the flash.. There could be a dead bulb holder, or a break in the feed wires some where Rgds citroenxm -------------------- 1993 K Reg 3.0 V6 12 Valve Auto (Green) LPG S1.5 SORNd

Afternoon folks
Many thanks for the suggestions of where to start looking. TBH I should have tried harder but it was dark, the rain was starting, and I was pissed off after an argument with SWMBO so just went on a spirited drive instead Annnnnyway, moving swiftly on, I'll have to check the bulb holder and wiring tonight. Of course I've just remembered my uncle borrowed my multimeter at the weekend, but no matter, will get it back. I didn't realise the repeaters didn't affect flash rate, that's handy to know. When I saw the lack of rapid flashing, I was thinking perhaps there was a problem with the flasher unit itself, or it was somehow compensating for the fault (I know, I know, but hey this is an XM! I'll see what I can find out tonight, seems this is just one of many intermittent light issues its having ATM. Thanks again. Ciarán -------------------- '95 XM 2.1TD VSX Hatch: RP 6429.
