Couple of questions for you.

I have fitted a new kenwood cd/radio ( I got fed up with singing). The loom had been altered to fit the radio that was in there when I bought it and fitted straight in! There was a slim connector in there on the end of a grey lead ( I think) - I assume this is for the steerining wheel controls. How can I get this to work with the radio? Any ideas?

The other question is - when I bought the car it came with no remote for the central locking. Any ideas how I can get this going? Thanks. Chris.

You could buy a key, then goto the Stealer to program it for you.

Or, put out a Wanted, PILPER and reciver Box from under the glove box for S2 XM.

Unfortunally, the PLIPPERS are not programable like the Xantias, by simply pointing the PILPPER at the reciver!

Series ones are Infra Red, but not programable, and S2 are Radio frequency and need to have the matching box from under the glove box> thats what i'm trying to say...

Could a Xantia receiver be transplanted to an XM? Plenty of those about, and the programability is handy.

Personally though, I hate the directional infra red, and would go for the S2 transplant.

Other alternative is to fit an alarm with integrated central locking output, but that may be a bit extreme. Reminds me I must get round to fitting mine smile.gif

You can usually buy an interface and connector lead for the steering wheel controls from a specialist car audio suppliers. However these don't always work as they should.

Try Car Audio Direct.

It's usually a 2 part job.

I bought the parts to remotely control my Alpine head unit but only half the functions worked and then not the most useful one - volume.

The suppliers answer was that sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't with XMs. Oh well.

The bit I really miss is the radio station name on the dot matrix, just so incredibly cool and retro. Now I have an iPod I may follow that guys example of a docking lead. That said I'd loose independent sub output...

Maybe some day.

Steve.
