Repairing Hydraulic Pipes.

My son managed to hole two suspension pipes under the front passenger side, I think it was due to a combination of deep water and loose stones. Trying to find where they went was difficult enough without replacing them!

The depression lifted a little when I remembered seeing a pipe flaring tool on ebay by Pleiades. I phoned them and spoke to a very nice chap who new my village! I explained my predicament and he sent me a tool plus four pipe fittings and two female couplings. I completed the repair job in about an hour.

Admittedly, these pipes were fairly accessable, but the tool is very small and once you get used to it, is quite easy to use, if you cant get to the problem easily, you can cut out a length of pipe and replace it where it is accessable.

The total cost, including postage for the tool and the other bits was £73.20. and of course I still have the tool for next time! Not cheap, but certainly cheaper than your local Citroen garage!

This flaring tool really is worth it's weight in gold! I've used mine to repipe a load of
GS's and Cx's. I've virtually repiped the whole rear 2/3'd of a fair few Cx estates!!
The initial tooling up costs are the only big deal. You then simply need a set of good
car ramps.

Everyone needs to get one. The pipe, joints and seals are available through GSF!

I don't know that they have a website, they were selling on ebay under 'Citroen xm'

I have the invoice in front of me, but it doesn't appear to have a phone number on it! There is a sticker on it which says: Pleiades, Green End House, Scotney Way,Sawtry, Cambs. PE28 5XF. I can just see' @virgin.net' poking out from under the label, so you could try that.

One of the best aspects of 'rolling' your own is the cupro nickle pipe, very bendable and it doesn't seem to corrode. Also the fittings from Pleiades have a good chunky 10mm head too.

I bought a used one off ebay complete with 10M of pipe and some fittings for about £50.

I have opened up this listed website this morning and got a useful view by following through to "parts information". The new addres is irrelevant as all parts can be mailed. The only thing that has changed is the fact that they no more do repair work - it is concentratng on reconditioning and does a superb job with 2 year guarantee on all workmanship and materials.
I have dealt with them for over 20 years and never been let down.
