Your help, gentlemen please.

Not had this before on any of my previous but last few days come out to use the car in the dark and after starting, when I turn the dipped headlamps on there is either a delay in them coming on or they flicker on and off once, twice or three times before settling on. Logic says I'm either looking at the switch or a relay ---- any thoughts welcome. If it's a relay, where am I looking ?

Mike.

In the row of relays plugged in above the lights themselves on the rear of the slam panel, if memory serves. I think the one in question is on the driver's side.

Give them a wiggle with the lights on, and if it is the usual corroded legs problem, the relay in question will soon become apparent.

Just as Ciaran says above the right hand headlamp.

Photo here of the relay when I couldn't turn mine off -

You can just see the alternator in the top right if that helps you locate it.

What can I say --- spot on diagnosis. Contacts all cleaned and vaselined now --- back to 100%. Many thanks again for the huge time and effort saving. Incidentally, on mine it is the only relay on the RH side above the lamp.

Mike.

Forgive me for looking at the adjacent pics in Flickr Steve - but Holy Cow!! blink.gif blink.gif

I've not seen one that bad that hadn't already given up!!

The old dodgy headlights relays cause all kinds of weird issues - mine sometimes don't
'do' main beams.
