Thanks Dean - sad I missed them - these rims are well worth buying a whole car for
- Yes really; that's where the last set came from! Finding the odd pictures in the bowels of the computer here where there's some more of the greeny grey 2.0i TCT pictured a few posts back. It was bought off ebay as spares or repair as no effort was made in the general bidding and I couldn't bear to see it donating an engine to a nasty deathtrap Pug: ![]() ![]() The Genuine Citroen alloys fitted were transferred onto another car which I've still got! I think they're really the next best alternative to the standard wobbly webs. The seats are the pukka most comfortable of the lot variety!! wears extremely well and is far far softer and consequently comfier. ![]() Andrew This post has been edited by Andmcit on February 24, 2009 08:44 pm |

I used to have a bike, i modified it though, added a couple more wheels, a roof, boot and proper engine, i call it the car
Andrew, im starting to wonder whether its worth putting the electric seats in mine, they are much slower to adjust than the manual ones and im dredding pulling the leather off and swapping it over onto the leccy frames D -------------------- 92 xm 20i prestige auto (modified)R.P 5678

Hi Dean
I took the seat bases off a set of leather that I bought at the weekend. Its not to difficult to remove. Having said that I have yet to put the other bases onto them. I personally wouldn't consider taking the leather etc off the frame, just change the bases. -------------------- 1980 CX Athena (W)

I suppose it depends how much you usually adjust it by. If 2 regular drivers have very different positions, then the manual is probably better. But, the electric makes small adjustments to position for comfort whilst driving possible. You can just tap a switch and get a more comfortable position and not have to worry about the seat suddenly moving from under you in a dangerous way that risks you loosing control of the car. -------------------- 94M XM 2.5 TD VSX Estate RP 6430 Forest Green

Having been using the SX hatch lately, I quite like the 'instant adjust' seats, but it's much safer using the electric ones when on the move.

Guess I'm usually guilty of stirring up this seats discussion but it will always run and run!
What I find from regularly hopping from one Xm to another is the suede 'basic' seats are by far and away the MOST welcoming. I believe the perceived stigma of a basic trim level is all hullabaloo anyhow and many folk are just buying into all the unnecessary marketing crap!! Sure, the lekky adjustment could be described as being better with more accurate setting with finer 'tuning' but the seats are never altered by whoever drives them anyway!! As far as leather goes, it's always seen as the poish trim level and marketed as top of the range but apart from being easier to clean I find I can't live with it as easily as cloth/suede /velour. What scores points for the non electric seats as well as the squishier squab and covering velour is the lack of electric motors under the seat which has permitted the fitment of pre-MP3 era Sony CD multi changers without having to faff about in the boot. The only thing im thinking about is when im waiting in the car i like to lay the seat right back to lay down and watch a film while swmbo is shopping, i can see waiting for the leccy seats to recline may become irritating, unless i can supply them with 24v

Ive got a dvd player and screen in the glove box, with sound piped through the stereo system , i was going to put one in the roof lining but with the sunroof there is no room and i prefer it to be out of view anyway so it doesnt ruin the look of the interior.
I meant 24 volts but the thought of Jeremy clarkson style 24valve V6 powered seats gave me a D -------------------- 92 xm 20i prestige auto (modified)R.P 5678

Do you mean suede or just velour. I thought the Exclusive version had part suede coverings and is the top model. Lesser models are velour only. |

Well spotted Dieselman; I muffed that up a treat didn't I!?
Of course I meant velour!! Sure the 1/2 and 1/2 leather and suede Exclusive seats are a decent compromise to full leather - it's just a shame they bobble and tear so easily so they 'lose' to the plasticy feeling real leather as well as plastic coated pretend leather that John refers to. My order of preference for seat finishes is: 1: best - base spec velour manual adjust 2: pretty good but seem overstuffed Si electric - bit too firm but 'warm' covering 3: OK but wears easily 1/2 & 1/2 4: Full on leather - possibly manual adjust is better over electric Andrew |

Hmm, how do you tell plasticy leather over real stuff.? I've seen some torn plastic ones recently.
I thought my S1 and S1.5 velour sets were great, but leather looks good. Does anyone think S1 seats are more comfortable than S2 due to being firmer.? This post has been edited by Dieselman on February 25, 2009 09:31 pm |
